bukowiec39 0
Hi All Here's me again we a series of questions. I have found a nice mil spec plum furniture in both Warsaw Pact and Nato lenghts at k-var.com The website doesn't specify if this will fit the sporterized saiga in conversion. Is any of those stock good for fit, or they differ that much? Aren't Arsenal Saigas the same thing?
TJohn 8
You might need a different gas tube and you will need a lower hand guard retainer, other than that they should work. I am sure that someone will correct me if I am wrong, I haven't worked on that end of my Saiga rifles yet. Yes, Arsenal Saiga's are basically the same thing, just don't have the holes in the receiver from having the trigger group moved foward.
BigChongus 765
You'll have to do a front-end conversion, which would include the standard AK gas tube and a lower hand-gaurd retainer. These work really well. I used them in both of my front end conversion on my rifles: http://saiga-ak.com/LHG02gen2.html
Elliot@kvar 4
You need to change the gas tube out and add the front retainer. If you do these two things than those hand guards will work just fine. The only problem is that getting the retainer into place is not easy. For the 1 piece retainer you would have to remove the front sight post as well as the gas block, then put the retainer on and re-press and pin the other pieces. I have heard there is a 2 piece retainer out there you can use, but I don't have any info on it. Elliot
bukowiec39 0
Thanks for info. I bought this bracket this time. Last conversion I didnt use one. I dont know but it worked fine without it. It was in .223.
Buford T Justice 17
I assume that replacing the gas tube doesn't affect the reliability of the rifle since many do it. I have no problems with the function of the gun and wouldn't want to cause reliability problems by changing the gas tube. Is this an issue?
G O B 3,516
The gas tube has little to do with reliability unless mis aligned badly. It is merely a guard for the carrier and a guide to align the piston to the gas block when the bolt group cycles.
IndyArms 10,186
Check out DINZAG's website He is one of our vendors, here... He makes a bolt on lower handguard retainer, and an upper gas tube, that will fit right on your rifle... no fuss no muss... It is a little pricey... but it is hand made ( the lower retainer ) and made with love!!! It is WORTH EVERY PENNY!!!!! ( I just bought them for my 308!!! ) You cannot go wrong with Dinzag parts!!!! It saves all kinds of irritation and headache!!!!
