thebobrusso 27
Any time line on making s.223 mags?????
csspecs 1,987
Still being worked on.. The plates are not done yet so its going to be a while. Are you ok with an anti tip AR follower, because they are really cheap and fit with cheap springs.. Which would make the project much faster. Right now the shop looks like a mag storm went through.. We have several hundred of each type either being assembled or welded. Some just went down to the finisher, some should be coming back tomorrow. And I'm getting married this weekend, which has not exactly helped make things go smoothly these past few months... Once this madness goes back to a normal level projects should start rolling forward much faster.

Which would make the project much faster. Sounds like a good cost cutting measure, if it works well. Do you plan to make the mags oversize on the feedlips and locking tab? I can't think of any other way to ensure that they fit all Saiga 223s with no wobble. The S223 has more variation around the magwell than any of the other Saiga rifles. The variations are hard to factor for, since you just don't know how wide the margin may be. Thanks.
thebobrusso 27
yeah sure as long as there reliable and durable and defiantly don't tilt....especially if the savings get passed on to the customer
thebobrusso 27
i just compared my ar mags to my weiger mags springs seem about the same pounds/pressure and the followers are pretty similar too.....just a thought might be possible to use 5.45 springs don't know if thats cheaper/easier. csspecs 1,987
We pass along any savings we can. Its good for sales. If we are using AR followers we will probably use AR style springs and floor plates.
thebobrusso 27
sounds like a plan to me!
protected static 19
Congrats on the wedding! You may have said this elsewhere, but I can't be arsed to look it up right now... Is your .223 mag intended for rifles with or without a bullet guide?
csspecs 1,987
both. We will likely be making two version of it. One for with a bullet guide one for without.
protected static 19
Looking forward to seeing what you come up with...

jimdigriz 580
Mike, are you still planning to model the mag bodies fairly closely on the Weigers?

G O B 3,516
Good. Fast. Cheap. Life only allows 2 of those three - I'll take good and cheap every time!

Life only allows 2 of those three - I'll take good and cheap every time! yeah +1, well take your time, i think i'm speaking for the ak.223 community when i say a steel us mag is something most of us have been wanting, your the man for taking this project on
bohound 281
I'm glad to read about the "wobble factor" being addressed. Some of us (a lot of us, probably) had to grind out a bit of the magwell material to install AR adapters. I have to be pretty picky about my AK based mags now as a result. NEW, steel mags... Well that would be like peanut butter, and ladies. Let me know when you release, I'd love to "test" them!
bloyer4@hotmail.com 0
Personally, I can't wait for these to be available. If they follow the Weigers fairly closely and have a self-contained BG, I'll load up.
