Front sling attachment?

Recommended Posts

What type of set up have you used to attach a sling on the front of the gun if you kept the stock Saiga handguard? I've got a Tapco buttstock with the side sling mount. Would like to rig up something to work with the stock h/g and be able to use a side mounted 2 point sling. Pics of what you have done would be great!

I to would like to know. I have the same set up and the front swivel is for a 3/4 sling, and I have several 1'' slings and don't want to use 3/4 any way. I guess the people who keep the oem hand guard just use the cheap $5 generic slings with leather tabs.

I replaced the stock swivel stud which has a screw that retains the stud from the outside and blocks the hole for any type of quick release. I bought an uncle mikes 10-32 thread swivel stud and tapped it all the way to the eye and cut off about half the thread. threads right in and has the open hole so you can use 1 or 1 1/2' shoulder sling qiuck releases. I use mine for mounting my bipod picatinney plate which also has an eye for a shoulder sling.

Will try to get some pics for viewing. Hope this helps ya....

I used 2 wire cables around the barrel. Cheap and effective.

I now use a single-point blackhawk sling but when I had my 3-point sling I just ignored the front sling loop and wrapped the sling around the barrel with the straps included with the sling. I've also seen a lot of guys just drill 2 holes and attatch a shotgun picatinny rail to the bottom of the stock handguards. It looks great and also allows the use of a vertical grip, flash light, bipod or even a laser. Not to mention picatinny rail adapters for sling swivels.

I added a rail to my stock handguard but then as soon as I rigged that up I got a quad rail and single point. So it looks good but I can't attest to its durability.

There's a lot of options out there and it wouldn't be hard to rig something up. Just hit the drawing board and come up with some ideas. You can even run options thru us forum guys and see if anybodys tried it and make sure it's not a fail waiting to happen.

Just slip a slip ring through the hole on your present front mount hole and us a mil sup ak sling with the clip on one end attached to the slip ring.

Just like NMO has his rigged above. You probably have and old key ring with a decent slip ring on it laying around.
