MrOneEyedBoh 14
On the From 1 it states that you need to list OAL. Where would I measure the barrel from? Is it starting at the receiver? Or from the feed ramp?
Gunfanatic 221
OAL = Over All Length not barrel length and you use a dowl in the barrel on a closed bolt to measure that. Edited February 13, 2012 by Gun Fanatic
MrOneEyedBoh 14
I know its not just the bbl length. I was wondering where I would measure for OAL.
kevin.rose0@gmail.com 62
http://www.atf.gov/p...8-chapter-2.pdf "The ATF procedure for measuring barrel length is to measure from the closed bolt (or breech-face) to the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device. Permanent methods of attachment include full-fusion gas or electric steel-seam welding, high-temperature (1100°F) silver soldering, or blind pinning with the pin head welded over. Barrels are measured by inserting a dowel rod into the barrel until the rod stops against the bolt or breech-face. The rod is then marked at the furthermost end of the barrel or permanently attached muzzle device, withdrawn from the barrel, and measured." "The overall length of a firearm is the distance between the muzzle of the barrel and the rearmost portion of the weapon measured on a line parallel to the axis of the bore." TonyRumore 1,332
You measure from the end of the extended butt stock to the end of the barrel attachment, if you have one. Don't fold or colapse the stock when measuring.
RedDevilGuns 25
That's not just in barrel length either. Never sell yourself short.
BobAsh 582
OVERALL LENGTH is pretty self explanatory. Like Tony said, measure with the stock all the way out.
