Saiga Newbie 14
All, I have been seeing the H&K iron sights for sale described as "reconditioned" on some of the vendor websites. Does anyone know what the source of these sights are and why vendors and builders are using reconditioned sights versus just buying new ones? Thanks
Nailbomb 10,221
A lot of H&K sights are take offs from H&K rifles, Not new.
Saiga Newbie 14
Thanks NailBomb. Are these HK rifles milsurp in EU? Just curious. I am sure the reconditioned rear sights/turrets are just fine.
Nailbomb 10,221
I would assume they are from demilled guns But I don't know if there's any way to track that. So I couldn't tell you.
Shandlanos 1,470
Probably from German G3 rifles. Absolute shit-ton of them have been chopped and surplused out, as they're mostly issued to reserve units now. Oddly, the sights and mags are plentiful and relatively inexpensive, but many of the other parts command a premium. Edited February 19, 2012 by Shandlanos
Saiga Newbie 14
Interesting. I learned something today. Thanks.
Lone Eagle 839
9 times out of 10, a reconditioned part is not only as good as the original, but cheaper. More than likely, these sights are inspected adn refinished after removal. I have a set of flips on my AR that my son got me at Ft Jackson that are reconditioned M4 sights. Nothing wrong with them, but you can tell they were refinished. Think of it like a car part. You can get a new alternator for $x, but a reconditioned one is anywhere from $50-$100 cheaper. Same part, just recycled and cleaned up.
vicdoc 38
You can get these at various parts dealers, like robertrtg dot com, or hkparts dot net. Used or new available, used are half the price, or less.
