I've been watching some videos, I think I might participate

'seeing some of the videos on youtube, and reading a bit on here, I think I might go check out some 3 gun compettions. Apparently, east alabama has one every time there's a 5th sunday in a month. I know nothing about it, but I have a chext rig, a glock 17, an ak or two, and a saiga 12 with a bunch of magazinex, so i'd be willing to give it a shot. i'm sure I'll get smoked, but it looks like fun.

It is fun. Don't go and watch, just do it. Most matches only allow ARs for rifle. Not sure why, but that is how it is in most FL matches that I am aware of. You may actually beat at least one experienced 3 Gunner, like I did my first time out ;) 16th place out of 17, lol.

Do you know how to shoot any training, or deligent driven self training. If you dont you should do that Id hate to be the guy left or right. I personally go to every singel appleseed shoot within 250 miles radius. Its amazing the amount of "experts" that dont even know the fundamentals of marksmanship. First formal training i would get if i was you would go join the cmp and go to some of there schools and recieve training from true experts no sir mix alot at, at the range.

You will have a fun time once you get going with 3 gun.

I would recommend doing a few pistol matches like IDPA or something of the sort

to get range commands, safety, range rules etc down first.

Then go for some 3 gun fun!

Take it slow and just worry about hits and safety.

Don't want to get DQ'd your first match!

Practice, practice, practice and before you know it you'll be a gamer.

I don't have any formal training, but I can draw a pistol and hit the target pretty well. I used to jog around with my saiga 12 while my buddy flung clays in the air. I could hit them pretty regularly while moving. Not that that's any kind of valid comparison, but I can jit a miving target while I myself am moving, that's gotta count for something, right?

The shooting isn't the factor.

Its the safety and rules involved in a formal match setting.

There is a lot to know in regards to everyone's safety at a match.

That's the biggest factor, and again something like an IDPA match will help you get comfortable

with that.A match setting also adds a level of stress that you will not get out just blastin'n joggin..

Last thing you want is a DQ.

Dont they have zombie targets that bleed...

Oh yea, they do!

Learn proper gun handling before you shoot a match. Big difference between shooting with friends and at an organized match. Matches have no tolerance for shooters that don't follow the safety rules.
