Heres my opinion.... YAY, another poll!

I paid over $500 for this SVDS stock so I had better think it's the best or I might be totally stupid. (Hold your comments please).

Opinions are like assholes. Everybody has one!

I like the KVAR NATO length as it's a little longer than the warsaw specs. It makes for a really great baseball bat and skull fucker. Collapsable stocks are great for getting into and out of your Mercedes SUV at the trap range. It might even get you a premium seat on a bird. However, I like the feel and functionality of a solid buttstock.

Sincerely,

That guy.

While not particularly scientific (and only looks at AR stocks), the testing was consistent and Magpul UBR came out on top. As correctly pointed out by VLTOR, you have to wonder if the result would be the same in a "real world" test with an actual gun. Still, it seems some manufacturers need to do a little more design work.

Gear Scout themselves acknowledges in the very beginning of their results report, the differences between their method and an actual weapon.

And they say that one must consider what features are most important to them, and specific use.

We didn’t want to risk trashing the extension threads on GearScout’s own lower receiver by subjecting it to hundreds drops. (Note to self: get a donor receiver for the next test!) So, we made a simple 8lb test fixture from a three foot section of black pipe. We used the weight of a loaded M4 with light, laser, optics, BUIS and sling as a our basis to get to 8 pounds. To make the fixture, we had a machine shop cut a hole in a pipe endcap and we used a pair of castle nuts to secure the extension. In hindsight, we realized this fixture will impart a stronger impact than a real rifle that weighs the same since the moving mass of the bolt carrier group would be buffered by the buffer assembly. While the mass is the same, the impact impulse is more violent than would be experienced by a functioning firearm.
Our choice for best stock comes in response to questions related to specific use. If weight and price aren’t an issue, the Magpul UBR is your stock. If you’re after the lightest stock, the Rogers Super-Stoc has a killer strength to weight ratio. If you like storage, check out Magpul’s STR. If you want a battle proven pedigree, the LMT SOPMOD and the VLTOR IMOD show they can take some abuse and keep fighting.

I use two AR style stocks on my Saigas, my S12 has the VLTOR AK adapter tube & VLTOR Emod, and my 7.62x39 has the CAA AK adapter tube and MagPul MOE, I also use the VLTOR Emod on my S&W M&P15. A little disappointed to see the Emod do so poorly, at least VLTOR has a little vindication with their Imod doing moderately well.

I've been eyeing the soon to be released Magpul STR, after seeing these test results, I want one for my S7.62x39 & AR.

If I were going into a situation that had the potential of me butt-stroking someone, I'd probably run a different stock than what I have now. I really don't see that happening but I appreciate tests like this because it let's people know what is the strongest on the market.

I have to vote UBR for a top contender and the IMI Galil for my favorite side folder. The UBR is a heavy sob that transfers some weight to the back, and I've never handled a side folder that locks up quite like a Galil. That said, it takes some work to fit up a Galil stock to anything but a Galil. I also like the fact that it folds to the right, many do not.

My dry sarcasm doesn't come across well in text... It was more of a hint for him to make one for those of us who have removed that annoying piece of metal...

Oops, my bad... I was incredulous that you might actually be serious.

actually it folds flush with the tang, it collapses to 1/4" from tang.

I see no reason to require tang removal with a folding stock, this folds nearly

as compact, attaches stronger, and lets you have more options.

Folds within a quarter inch of your tang...

What's a tang???? Lol!

Nevermind the tang.... I pull the entire rear block wink.png

Enjoy the weapon today as you may not live to see any resale value tomorrow. Instead of me being dead and gone and someone saying "Wow, this thing is pristine", I would rather enjoy mine exactly as I want it and leave them with the realization that I made it mine. To hell with what a new buyer may or may not like. Make it my yours and do not settle....
