So, I was browsing J&G Sales when I happened upon this:

From J&G Sales Item #1-1995xq

It looks pretty good but the bad news is that it looks like Century my be doing the conversions, which could lead to what might otherwise be perfectly acceptable rifles getting a bad reputation the way WASRs do. If they're decent rifles, I'd hate to see the PAP smeared.

Anyway, it looks interesting. I'm not $700 worth of interested in it, but it might be someone else's cup of tea.

For $700? Thats ok I'll add another $100-200 and get and Arsenal. Not nocking Zastava but I'm suspicious of any modern semi auto rifle that has anything to do with Century.

I wouldn't be afraid of it at all.

Zastava is quality.

Thicker receiver,

Wood looks great.

Sheer work of art.

All Century is doing is importing them.

From what I have been able to ascertain, all the work is done at Zastatva.

I am getting one soon.........just don't tell the wife!

If century is only importing the gun it should be OK I have two SAR 2's and they are great I hope these PSP's come from the factory with hi-cap openings if cenrury is opening them up they seam to always go a little far.

They had a ad in the newest SGN and all century is doing is importing them they are fully built in the CZ plant you just have to watch they are making a single stack 10rd version and a hi-cap version.

I believe Zastava is in Serbia but the Czech Republic.

But they do look nice. It is interesting (but not awesome) to see the price increase of AKs. I mean, even the WASRs are now like $500 or so.

Yeah I used to know a Serb online. All "Yugos" that are new are techincally serbian made (or at least the virgin parts kits if I'm not mistaken.). He tried to correct me like a dozen times that it's not considered Yugoslavian it's concidered in Serbia as Serbian.

Either way, I'm glad they decided to import them like it has been suggested. Yugo Kalashnikovs are some hardcore shit. It might be why my WASRs seem to not have any issues. They just import those (now they do, not sure about before.) too then just open the magwell up a lil bit for free state sales, the magwells are also tighter now these days, much less wobble (not that I ever complained, I've seen an AK in a third world hell hole firing full auto and the mag in slow mo was swinging like a pendelum on a grandfather clock, never jammed, 30 rounds gone.).

I just had visions of complaints about shoddily-cut magwells with all ground to heck, canted front sights and gas blocks, and headspace problems caused by mismatched bolt heads. But if they're being brought in with standard receivers, trunnions, bolt heads, then even a potentially rough magwell would be bearable. On closer inspection, the rifle doesn't have a bayonet lug, so no worries about block canting either.

In this case CZ stands for Crvena Zastava, the factory.

Also just to clerify what I ment. If Century puts any kind of power or hand tools (aside from installing handguards and stocks) to that rifle its not worth $700.

Oh he was a walking contradiction. Bitched about the Yugo thing, proudly Serbian but was a hardcore Communist and concidered himself Orthadox. I don't think he got the memo that in Communism, the state is your religon because there is no other religion allowed.

He had to go, he and I argued way too often.

A friend of mine who is a dealer claims that Century is opening up the magwells/trunnions with CNC milling, not hand tools. Century has not touched an AK with hand tools for a long time now.

Otherwise, they come in from Zastava 100% ready.

Unfortunately, one thing that was pointed out was that the rifle is missing a rear sling loop. Either weld on a Yugo sling loop to the rear of the receiver where it's supposed to be, or replace the buttstock with one cut for a sling loop. You could probably tie the sling on to the buttstock with paracord and have it look decent if done right.

Good to see some other countries' options besides Romanian hit the market.
