corbin 621
As with most things, it depends what you want it for. A 5.45 AK isn't going to be as accurate as the 308 AR, and the AR platform will likely not be as battle proof as an AK. The 5.45 will probably be less expensive. Salmonking 149
5.45x39 is only going to be inexpensive until the surplus is still around. You missed out on cheap magazines, but the rounds are still inexpensive. .308 ARs won't change price anytime soon, and .308 is much more expensive to shoot. I'd buy a good supply of 5.45x39 while it's still a bargain along with some nice furniture.

kresk 10,063
Agree with above guys--.308 is going to be more expensive to buy and shoot, but more accurate. The AK is cheaper to buy and feed. But, they're both fun!
bigj480 203
Do like me and stock up on 5.45 and then worry about buying the gun. Buy the one you think you would enjoy shooting more. If you want to shoot at longer ranges and shoot wefer rounds then get the AR. I'm not too knowlagable about ARs, but what caliber changes can you make on a AR-10 lower?
