nimbus 4
Title really says it all. I started out shooting slugs from my S12. Then went mostly to birdshot. (walmart Fed bulk pack). A little buckshot thrown in there. But now I'm getting the urge to stock up on slugs. Any pointers on good sources for cheapish slugs? Just for range fun. Yes, walmart is an option, but anything else? Thanks! (2 S12's waiting for the action...)
RED333 1,025
I make mine, Lee mold and reload. Get lead off ebay or where ever, stay away from wheel weights. Weights are dirty, have other stuff in them, you get to hard a slug, well for me it is to hard. Centurion and Noble Sport are good loads as well. cgp 12
Cheapest I've seen is Rio Royal Star from Copes Distributing.
preparehandbook 326
I cast my own. I use the LEE mold. I prefer pretty hard slugs so I use wheel weights, though RED333 is right about contaminants so extra care/steps are necessary.

gunfun 3,931
+1 on Sgammo.com. I always check the ammo comparison sites, but the last few times the best deals have been aimsurplus.com, or sgammo.com. I also keep an eye on B&P. Getting 250 of the basic round ball from sgammo is so close to the price of bulk birdshot, that it hasn't made sense to reload for me. If I had a mold for the shuttlecock style slug and a bunch of lead, that might change my mind, but I would have to be able to make them quickly to make it worthwhile. Foxtrot Oscar 37
Walmart will probably bed the cheapest but if you can, I'd say buy from your local dealer if their prices aren't rediculous / real old ammo always feels nice to support the new mom & pop shops.
