The usual answers in short form are: 6" from the breach is the shortest anyone has done. 8" is about what you said and is the shortest most people think is worthwhile, 12" is the shortest you should do without moving the gas block. ramlake 98 Posted April 11, 2012 Report Share Posted April 11, 2012 (edited) The problem I see is if you relocate the gas block back even as little as 2" your upper hanguard will be 2.5" long 2" gas block relocation would probably allow a 12" - 14" barrel to cycle without huge gas ports There again is a very good reason the gas system is relocated on short barrel saiga's I would like to see a russian SBS version is 330mm (12.9") I have not seen any Russian 12 guage AK based military length's shorter than 430mm?
