Slopes 2
I purchased this part: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-1365/Saiga-Ak-retaining-plate/Detail I installed it into my Saiga 7.62, using a Tapco G2. It appears solid as far as side-to-side movement. However when it is lifted upward, even very slightly, the piece seems to fall out of place. Is this normal and will it hold up when firing the rifle? gpqueen 545
It should be harder to pull off. If it is bent out you can tap the back side in a little to put it back into form. You should feel it snap into place when you push it on to the rear pin.
Slopes 2
Thank you, I took your advice and used a rubber mallet to tap it straight. It then clicked into place but did not seem solid enough, so I took a steel punch and tapped it with the mallet a few times. The plate barely moves at all now and appears it will hold in place. Thanks again for the solution.
