Salt Lake City, UT, man with a gun saves the day against a knife wielding attacker.
Man buys knife, starts repeatedly yelling, "You killed my people (repeat)" and starts stabbing people.
Man draws gun, threatens to kill him if he doesn't drop the knife, man with knife complies and store employees tackle him.

The police have not released his name, nor a picture... Hmmmm... Which "People" is the attacker referring to?
Is he Black, Muslim or otherwise a persecuted minority? If he was White it would sure as hell be a well known fact.
Granted, they haven't released the names/pics of the victims nor the outstanding & heroic citizen, either.

SALT LAKE CITY (ABC 4 News) - A citizen with a gun stopped a knife wielding man as he began stabbing people Thursday evening at the downtown Salt Lake City Smith's store.

Police say the suspect purchased a knife inside the store and then turned it into a weapon. Smith's employee Dorothy Espinoza says, "He pulled it out and stood outside the Smiths in the foyer. And just started stabbing people and yelling you killed my people. You killed my people."

Espinoza says, the knife wielding man seriously injured two people. "There is blood all over. One got stabbed in the stomach and got stabbed in the head and held his hands and got stabbed all over the arms."

Then, before the suspect could find another victim - a citizen with a gun stopped the madness. "A guy pulled gun on him and told him to drop his weapon or he would shoot him. So, he dropped his weapon and the people from Smith's grabbed him."

By the time officers arrived the suspect had been subdued by employees and shoppers. Police had high praise for gun carrying man who ended the hysteria. Lt. Brian Purvis said, "This was a volatile situation that could have gotten worse. We can only assume from what we saw it could have gotten worse. He was definitely in the right place at the right time."

Dozens of other shoppers, who too could have become victims, are also thankful for the gun carrying man. And many, like Danylle Julian, are still in shock from the experience. "Scary actually. Really scary. Five minutes before I walk out to my car. It could have been me."

Police say right now they have no idea what caused the suspect to go on the dangerous rampage. (We will update as soon as we learn new information.)

So far, police have not released the names of the suspect, the victims or the man who pulled the gun.

You mean it wasn't a weapon when he bought it?! Gotta love reporters... Posted Image

Congrats to the guy with the gun who took the proper actions! Posted Image

Actually that could very well be correct depending on the type/design of knife.
I've used the argument that many items are merely tools, until used as weapons.
Particularly when designed as a tool, not as a weapon.
Knives, axes, hammers, scissors, baseball bats and etc.

OK... I'm 50/50 serious/facetious... Reporters are in general dumbasses.

"Used it as a weapon" would've been better phrasing.

This is a better version than the original link provided. Original link --> "Citizen plays cop" WTF is that about? The first version tried and did sanitize the story to their liking. The first version was anti-gun.

The guy with the knife was Kiet Than Ly who was born in Vietnam.

Where is Jesse Jackson on this one?

Fathom the odd hypocrisy that Obama wants every citizen to prove they are insured, but people don't have to prove they are a citizen.

Knife as weapon or tool?
I work in schools some times and carry a knife, well 2 or 3.
Years ago I asked a LEO about if I was breaking any rules or laws while at a school.
His quote "You carry tools for you job, it is not a weapon, till you use it as one."
A screw driver, file, wrench, hammer, I can go on and on. It is you intent
that is what makes a tool into a weapon.
