RobRez 1,895
I am going to start loading for .45acp and was looking for a good starting point. Not sure what powder/how many grains, or primers to use. Primarily loading FMJ for the range, then of course some HP of some sort to really save $$. Getting a Lee 3 stage press. Any good info from yooz guys?
Gaddis 1,689
I use a lot of the loads listed here. I DO make sure they are within specs though by comparing them with a trusted reloading manual (making sure they are below maximum powder charge). http://alturl.com/8d9w5 Edited May 3, 2012 by Gaddis
RobRez 1,895
Well, thank you very much.
Gaddis 1,689
Hope it helps. BTW - I don't worry much about matching primers to the load (I usually use what I have (Winchester Large Pistol) the most on hand). I agree with Clark Magnusen's "blowing up firearms" postings on Usenet a few years ago (that most reloading recipes are quite "conservative" in the pressures they generate these days), and I haven't managed to blow up a firearm yet using standard pressure (non- magnum) primers. ironhead7544 35
For the 230 gr FMJ I like WW231 powder. For a hollow point load the 200 gr Speer with Blue Dot. For a practice load a 230 gr RN lead also with 231 powder.
markdavidson 28
i use Missouri bullet co. 200gr LSWC on top of W231 exclusively
