oldarmydog 0
Greetings from the "BIGGEST LITTLE CITY in the World"Reno,Nv.Picked up my new .308 rifle late yesterday & just finished a total cleaning job before heading out later today to bust her cherry.I tried a search for this info.as well as reading through about 200 old posts but could'nt find an answer so here's the question. Are my calculations correct on the rifling for this caliber at 1:12 meaning lighter ammo will give better accuracy & if so where do you place the cutoff,150-165-168-169 grn. or higher? Thanks in advance for the help. ironhead7544 35
Havent had much range time wuith my 308 but 150 and 168 shoot very well. Had cloverleafs with a 168 match load at 50 yards. Not sure what the twist is but you can find out with a cleaning rod. Run a brush down into the bore. Then mark the muzzle end with a flag of tape. Pull the rod out until the flag makes one complete turn and measure the distance back to the muzzle.
Tokageko 8
Just try a number of different loads. None of us are going to be able to answer in a satisfactory manner.
