nlacy 692
I was reading the "things you miss" topic and thought there are some things I enjoy having that did not exist a few years ago, like: internet porn gun forums where you can learn how to convert and trouble shoot guns so what's on your progress list? Oh, and I like having a small Walkman (showing my age) with digital tech. instead of the giant old cassette ones, or the Discman player. I have at least around 100 billion songs on my Walkman now-a-days!

I remember sending away for some Gi Joe stuff or lures from the Cabelas catalogue and it would take "4-6 weeks." Now if I order something and it doesn't ship tomorrow I'm like WTF. I dont think you quite understand technology yet, but you will one day. You can buy things then download them, its completely legal. um itunes much?(for example) You can buy an copy, its all legal. Dont get me wrong, I see what you tried there. You just didnt really follow through. Fail. Downloading in itself it not illegal. Nothing like a simple power outage to set us back 70 years. I am going say the smart phone. When I first got my iPhone a couple years ago, I thought to myself the power I had in my hands. The iPhone is the size of your wallet, but it is a more powerful cpu than what was on your desk 15 years ago. Hell the 3G and 4G networks have faster internet than the dialup I used to log into AOL back in the day, with the potential of being as fast as fiber optics. And nowadays you can face chat someone with it. Its straight out of a 1960s space movie. smartphones that hook up to a kestrel via bluetooth to give you better ballistics calculations than you could do on your own.... instantly and during a rain storm! progress! Great for camping. VIA is an instant score. I am a bit of a coffee snob, so it's awesome to be out in the middle of the mountains hunting, hiking, etc. and be able to pull out my butane burner, steel mug, and enjoy a damn good cup of "fresh" coffee. A lot of times it tastes better than Starbuck's drip coffee, which I like a lot. It's sure better than drinking bottled up morning coffee from camp. timy 1,185
Cassette tapes, hands down. They are so superior to 8 tracks it ain't even funny. Strangely though, they're getting difficult to find. I guess everyone else is realizing how good they are and buying them all up. The price will probably go up next.
Agent Lemon 157
A law recently passed here allowing the sale of liquor in grocery stores. I just bought a bottle of Stolichnaya in a Fred Meyers, along with the rest of my food. Now that's progress.

BuffetDestroyer 969
I would add that the price of music has gone down significantly since I was a teenager. CD's would cost $15-$18 in the mid 1990's. Now you can download an entire album for under $10 and our money is worth less than half of what it was back then. TV shows on DVD have made those cliff-hanger dramas bearable so you just click a button for the next episode instead of waiting a week or until the next season starts. I would add that our hobby has gained considerable acceptance over the past decade as more and more people realize that AK's and AR's are fun and practical recreational and self defense tools.
