esminbritt 16
I want to buy one of these scopes for my Saiga .308. It comes in 2 versions. I can't find anyone to truly explain the difference between the 2. Here is how Nikon explains it: The NikoPlex Model features Rapid Action Turrets that are calibrated for the trajectory of the .308/7.62 NATO Match round with 168 grain HPBT bullets, allowing the shooter to dial in known distances out to 800 yards. Or, If you prefer hold over, the BDC 800 reticle models feature Tactical turrets with 1/4 MOA click adjustments and holdover points out to 800 yards with .308 168 grain bullets. Can someone tell me what this means in plain english. The "Rapid Action turrets" sound cool but I want a system that will last a long time, and the BDC system seems to lock into settings, which seems more sturdy to me. Which set-up would you choose? DrThunder88 912
The Rapid Action Turret is just a target knob that's calibrated to a specific ammo load. Similarly, the BDC is a reticule with elevation hold-over marks calibrated for a specific ammo load.
esminbritt 16
so, this is my first long range scope. is the nikoplex an easier scope to learn on? Holdovers seem like it would require more experience. Is the rapid action less durable since it doesnt lock into settings?
nodott 13
Both reticle systems will not take long to learn on. It really is just a preference as to what you like. Ultimately it all comes down to getting the time behind the rifle and the scope and gaining the experience. Nodott
