wcoop 0
Hello everybody, my name is Will and I have trolled around these forums since I bought my S308-1 w/16" barrel last fall. It is still in it's stock configuration but I am finally seriously considering going for a conversion. First though, I have a few questions. #1. I have identified http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/ and http://store.carolin...vlet/StoreFront as websites to order my parts from. Would you suggest either over the other? #2. Both of the aforementioned websites have "conversion kits" that offer all the parts needed for a conversion. At a glance they seem a more economical way to purchase the needed parts than piece by piece, but do they include the correct and quality parts? (i.e. http://store.carolin...sion-Kit/Detail or http://www.mississip...tock-p-951.html) #3. Are there any specific forends that you would recommend? I wont be attaching any lights or lasers, but perhaps will attach a bi-pod or some sort. #4. Would you recommend a POSP scope or a rail with a weaver-mountable scope? Thank you! BBQ_Pork 1
1+2) I went with CSS only, so I can't say about the other. 3) Went with the cheapo from Cheaper than Dirt. It has the option of attaching the three included rails on the bottom of sides, or you can leave them off. 4) I went with a Texas Weapons Systems rail. Love it. RED333 1,025
I made my own FCG from the OEM FCG and a trigger of a S12. Stock I picked up here(WTS section), forend handguard(WTS SECTION) or what ever you want to call it is for a S12, UTG I think. Made my sight rail, holds zero and I can get the dust cover off to clean. My point is to buy what you need or want, use what you have or make the parts from what you have. All the venders sell good stuff, some need a little fitting to get just right and work in YOUR friearm, as all Saigas are a bit differant. Dad2142Dad 6,559
1. Both companies are great 2. The kits are easier to do, the FCG has always had a lot of debate. Do some searches and you'll see whats up with those. 3. I have this one on mine http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-1086/CAROLINA-SAIGA-RIFLE-TACTICAL/Detail . There are more out there now. Texas Weapons systems has the replacement dust cover and handguard that align, however the price is steep. 4. I have the side mount scope, easier to remove if you need irons. Look at the Optics section, TX-Zen has the best reviews on mounts, red dots and scopes. Other things to consider are total weight and muzzle flash. Add up the weights of each piece your adding. You may want to consider a muzzle device, not to hard to add one your self. Go here http://www.dinzagarms.com/downloads/downloads.html for DYI on the conversions and installing a muzzle device.

Rhodes1968 1,638
Dinzag Dinzagarms.com There is none better for the FCG if you are looking for a good improvement, sterling rep, and trouble free conversion. Edited June 15, 2012 by Rhodes1968
