Squishy 1,149
I was poking around looking at scopes and I ran across this; It struck my inexperienced mind as looking kinda Ninjaish but this is a $900 Burris setup. You can buy rings with rails on top all day so adding a holographic sight to any scope is doable. But can it be effective up that high? Is this a viable way to go? DrThunder88 912
Given their unlimited eye relief and use at relatively close ranges, reflex sights can be mounted in some weird places and still work pretty well (the smaller optic in that picture is a reflex sight, by the way, not a holographic one). On top would allow the shooter to transition from shoulder to shoulder and retain the use of the dot, unlike some of the "one o'clock" mounts. And it's not to say a holographic sight could not be used on a setup like that, but they do tend to be pretty big.
patriot 7,197
Burris make a fine scope. I have one on my 50 cal.
Squishy 1,149
Well I plead ignorance in all this, as with many things optics are thing unto themselves. Looking at a site like OpticsPlanet.com it's unbelievable how many different choices there are so I see you could make a career out of knowing this inside and out. Not that you have to but it helps to have some knowledge if you're going to make an informed choice. I do tend to suffer from "analysis paralysis" sometimes though and I often have to just jump in and start learning from experience. Thanks for the input guys.
