Moose458 2
I have a converted Saiga-12 that has the AKM style upper and lower hand guards in the Tapco black plastic. I want to replace them with a set of wooden hand guards from Ironwood. The upper hand guard looks like a standard AK twist off, but the lower hand guard is something else. Is it necessary to remove that whole front part (gas block) and all??? And what is actually invloved in removing it?? I would hate to damage anything just to put on some wood. corbin 621
I believe you will just have to open up the barrel channel in the lower HG, to allow for the thicker 12 barrel. That's it.
Shandlanos 1,470
Corbin, I don't think he's asking about fitting the new handguard - I think he wants to know how to physically remove the old one in order to install the new one. I'd love to know, too.

Agent Lemon 157
Gee thanks a lot, Now I will have to mod mine to be the same, lol. And here I was, being all proud that I learned to rivet the trigger guards and stuff... New goals always show up.

evlblkwpnz 3,418
It looks like you might need to move the gas block forward a little.
G O B 3,516
We all know how to remove factory handguards. What we do not know without pictures is how the monkeys that converted the gun attached theirs.
