New senate bill in CA - Californians need your help!

Recommended Posts

1st let me apologize if this is the wrong forum; mods please move if so. I have not been online in a while, but there is a situation in CA that needs attention - I assure you, if it passes, your states are next! Please spread the word, donate if you can, and if you are a Californian, do everything you can to stop this! Senator Leland Yee (D., San Francisco) - has gutted and amended SBS 249 in what was originally an attempt to outlaw something that was already illegal - the "mag-magnet" a "tool" that allowed you to use your bullet button equipped rifles like one that is not locked with a bullet button. This was bad enough because it was poorly written and un-necessary, but its gotten worse thanks to the tragedy in Aurora CO. The gun owners of California group has received word that he intends to change the wording to what would make ANY semi-auto rifle, pistol, or shotgun that has the ability to have detachable magazines outside of the grip - with OR without a tool. Maglocks, bullet buttons, "featureless" - all would be illegal. This includes all AK variants, SKS, AR platforms, M14s, 10/22s, mini 14s, mini 30s, keltecs, EVERYTHING. To make matters even worse still, not only would hundreds of thousands of law abiding citizens become felons overnight, but the bill calls for zero compensation for seized firearms. Please visit www.stopsb249.org for more info and spread the word! Thank you, and I'll let you get back to your regularly scheduled program now... :)

SKS's couldn't be included in their imported C&R form because they do not have detachable magazines. If you take out the box magazine you better make sure you are 922r compliant. California sucks! I hated it there. but if this does pass they will need to grandfather the offending rifles like they did with the last ban. You will just need to register it or face prison, and seizure. Good luck out there!

I recommend every able bodied person learn how to reload before ammunition becomes monitored.

i feel bad for you guys in cali, but to be honest, if you guys really hate this shit, just move. i know its not easy, but starting over never is. i for one would refuse to live in a state with as many restrictions as that fuckin place.. i really dont see how you guys can do it. if it were me, id get the hell out while you still can on your own free will.

The answer isnt to move, but to unite and vote'the fuckers out of office.

Well, Arnold didn't help. Do you think if he could have made the changes he would have. That place is F'ed-up to no end, and it isn't getting any better. I saw San Berdo just declared bankruptcy. Billions in debt with a population just over 250K. Its only going to get worse down there. I hope Oregon has the sense to close its southern border soon, and toss a match to the place.

too many hollywood bigshots that are anti-gun, too much corruption at every level, and not enough politicians willing to go against the grain. i dont really see that state ever getting better. only worse. (sadly). Cali has became the proving ground for shit laws across the board, especially with guns. maybe one day it will happen, but i doubt it.

The way the California law is at present, the SKS magazines are legal because removing the magazine requires the use of "a tool" which can be a bullet tip. This is actually what led to the origin of the bullet button in the first place, and why what we have now is legal. If the definition changes, the SKS can also become illegal.

I appreciate all the help recommending moves, it's something I've been wanting to do for a while, but there are reasons that isn't feasible until the right opportunity arises. As mentioned above, CA has become a proving ground - any help given now ould help prevent similar laws from passing in other states. Writing off CA is not the answer. All gun owners need to stick together - "united we stand, divided we all"...

Thanks again for anything you can do...

I too live in CA. I hate the politics and quite a few of the people here but I live at the beach so.........it's hard to find a better place and possibly a new trade. The only other state I would go to would be Wyoming but the wife ain't havin' it.

And don't forget they also have the 9th Circus Court of Appeals that will "validate" anything they put into law...

WE HAVE A BEACH IN INDIANA along lake Michigan, though it is TOO COLD ten months out of the year to get in the water, We DONT have DIANNE FEINSTEIN! We DO have plenty of illegals here too so it would feel just like home in California just without all the libturd douche bags. Hey and here in Indiana if you get an FFL and meet the requirements you can own an MG if you want!

I for one love my home state of Florida and we love gun owners here. However, I'm American first and Floridian second best wishes to y'all in California. If it passes there you can bet they'll try to bring it here. With the exception of Oregon, Vermont, N.H., and Maine it seems the west coast and New England are completely hostile to gun rights. At least the Midwest and Southern states recognize all of the constitution. Unfortunately the northern transplants are slowly changing the political landscape down here. Colorado is scaring me with the mag ban nonsense, I just hope the list of gun hating states doesn't grow!
