If you have a set of calipers, you can do the job very easily. Dremel and calipers and you can have it done in no more than 45 minutes. Just have to shave a little off the bottom and re-angle the top for the gas block. I painted mine after so I didnt have to worry about rust, but you can go commando if you feel squirrely

VR6Shooter did you use the original Saiga spring clip on the gas tube? Can the original AK74 spring clip be modofied to work? If not does your gas tube rattle loosely? I purchased two gas tubes from Dinzag and neither will fit using the Saiga gas tube spring clip. Not using it the gas tube is so loose that it rattles with the slightest movement of the rifle. I have had great results with other products from Dinzag but I am very disapointed with the gas tubes. Dont get me wrong, I am not bad mouthing Dinzag, he actualy took the time to try and match the second tube to my original. Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks.

With mine, there is enough force from the lever on the top of the gas tube that it presses it down into the gas block and doesn't allow for front to back movement, either. I have the spring clip saved for if I need to go back to original stock in the future, but I have no need for it with the standard AK gas tube as it sits.

I did, it is not that hard to do with a dremel, if you have one. Otherwise buying from a dealer is probably your best easiest way to go. You have to both grind the top locking surface and the lower area that falls into the gas block. I had the measurements of removal in my caliper box which has since gone MIA. I just measured the stock tube, then the 74 and made them exact matches. Works and looks like butter now

Edit: Keep in mind gas tubes for a while have been impossible to find for cheap. So if you can't find a near $20 one, a Dinzag or other already converted option may be the only way to go
