MY Vepr ARRIVED! :-)

Recommended Posts

Picked the Vepr today! Man is it nice. My FFL says he has never seen such a nice stock on any AK variant. He's thinking about getting one for himself. The gun has a very nice feel to it with the factory stocks on it.

I opened the box and got a nice surprise. My 20.5" is a fluted bull barrel and is threaded with a pinned muzzle nut!

After getting it home I did try other mags, and they are a millimeter wide on both sides the the gun or the mags will need modified to make them work. I'll work that item out later.

The only negative is that my drift pin was missing from my cleaning kit. I'll get more pics going after I get a chance to get into the gun more.

Yay! With your mags, did you mean too wide front to back, or side to side, or all the way around? Glad to see the barrel it threaded for ya! The fluted barrel looks rather nice as well. Congrats on an excellent score Liberty!

ETA: Have you tried any Bulgy circle 10's by chance?

I put a post in the Saiga 223 section asking guys to take measurement of what ever mags they use to see what might work in the Vepr with minor mods needed if any. Figured I'd get more help in that section.

SGM/Surefires run .85" front x 1.02" rear and 2.47" long (too fat front and back to work)

Vepr mags run .72" front x .96" rear and 2.55" long

I already want another Vepr!

Ran up ot the range early this morning to do a quick operational test, and it ran flawlessly through 50 rnds. Slight front site adjustment for elevation, and she's pretty much spot on. I did not have time for checking groupings, but I'll have some time next week for that.

Gotta say, I'm really lovin the Vepr!

Took one of the Saiga 223 along to compare recoil and the Vepr has slightly less recoil. Probably the extra weight of the gun itself more than anything.
