At the gunshow this past weekend the guy I bought the antique roll crimper from also had some red dots sitting on his table so I checked one out. It was a Truglo TG8380B;

It had a substantial feel and the options to change dot color between red and green and dot size were pretty slick. It goes for around $89 on OpticsPlanet.com. Of course some would say it can't be hitting on too much at this price.

Anyone have any experience with this part?

But, I can't attest to what happens under recoil.

Yeah, I guess that's where the difference is, to make a part like this more durable and resistant to shock requires more expensive processes. To be honest this sight felt more "substantial" than the Burris Fast Fire III I have that has held up well on an S-12. But I guess the weight and feel of something doesn't speak to how it's made internally.
