stumpjumper 0
Hello, i currently have a unconverted saiga 12 with the raa thumbhole stock which im trying to figure out if i use a USA 5 round or USA 2 round mag in it, would i be legal? i understand that over 5 is considered non-sporting and would trigger 922r. thanks for your time. rnemhrd 165
As long as your at or below 5rd you are ok. Over 5rd and you need to be 922r compliant to run high cap. mags. Any mag OVER 5rd capacity is considered high cap for a shot gun. Edited October 16, 2012 by rnemhrd

gunfun 3,931
May as well lock this thread. Post #2 said all he needs to know.
thunderstruck 13
Worth noting that with US-made magazines, you are only one part away from compliance anyways. Gas puck or muzzle device for instance...
gunfun 3,931
Not to be harsh Thunder, but your info is out of date: After the last ATF letter, a saiga has 15 parts. This is up to date: Gunwiki: 922® Worksheet for Saiga Shotguns They now count the "bolt carrier extention" (piston on a standard AK) as an Operating Rod. With a US magazine you still need to eliminate 2 other foreign parts, not just one.

I'm compliant before I stick it in. That almost sounds dirty... Edited October 18, 2012 by rnemhrd
stumpjumper 0
just curious would a tapco thread protector or a polychoke count toward removing a foreign part? or would that trigger 922r since it doesn't come imported with a choke?
rnemhrd 165
no, they doe'nt count it yet. Even though you are adding a US part you are not REMOVING a part they specify as a required part for 922r http://gunwiki.net/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaShotgunVerifyCompliance There is a us bolt carrier available now even though the work sheet says no. A buisness member makes it. Not cheap, but good that they do. Just an FYI Edited October 18, 2012 by rnemhrd
stumpjumper 0
so i could put a poly choke on and still remain in a sporting configuration? if so that is very good news to me.
