unconverted saiga 12 legal question. using usa mag?

Recommended Posts

As long as your at or below 5rd you are ok. Over 5rd and you need to be 922r compliant to run high cap. mags. Any mag OVER 5rd capacity is considered high cap for a shot gun.

Not to be harsh Thunder, but your info is out of date: After the last ATF letter, a saiga has 15 parts.

This is up to date:

Gunwiki: 922® Worksheet for Saiga Shotguns

They now count the "bolt carrier extention" (piston on a standard AK) as an Operating Rod.

With a US magazine you still need to eliminate 2 other foreign parts, not just one.

So true. Get a US mag,gas puck and fore arm stock. I doe'nt like to use my mag as part of my parts count. I'm compliant before I stick it in. That almost sounds dirty... Edited by rnemhrd

no, they doe'nt count it yet. Even though you are adding a US part you are not REMOVING a part they specify as a required part for 922r http://gunwiki.net/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaShotgunVerifyCompliance There is a us bolt carrier available now even though the work sheet says no. A buisness member makes it. Not cheap, but good that they do. Just an FYI
