Converted my Saigas front end

Recommended Posts

Yes, very nice!

I just helped my buddy do the front end on his 7.62 from a 1970's AK parts kit (Romanian) he bought for $80. The gas tube dropped right in. The hardest part was pressing off the FSB & GB but that only took 10 minutes. If you didn't want to mess with that you can split the retainer.

Aside from the $40 he spent on the FCG & PG, most of the parts came out of the parts kit.

Good job! Looks so much better with that front end!

Looks good, are you useing us made stock and grip for compliance? just wondering because if so you might look at the bulgarian plastic fore wood and lower hand guard that would also match your stock and pistol grip.

I went the split retainer route. I have to say my Dremel Fu was particularly good on this one.

The stock and grip are US made Kvar. I have a E. German folder I think I may put on. I put US made floorplates on all my mags, so I will still be in compliance (G2 trigger=3 parts, grip=1, flashhider=1, floorplate=1, total 6).

Looks good.

Anyone know where I can get some replacement sights for my 7.62? I would fiber optics if I can find them.

Let me know at * dennis.sumrak@sbcglobal.net * please.

Thanks.

I don't know if I've ever seen truglo type sights for ak. I'd like to see some in production though.
