devilfish13 6
Does anybody have a M14x1LH rethreading die I could borrow? I'd pay shipping both ways if interested. I removed the muzzle nut, but the pinning chewed up the threads in the nut enough that it chewed up the barrel thread just enough to not take my flash hider nicely. I don't anticipate needing a die more than once, so borrowing one would be more cost-effective than buying one. Thanks in advance!
devilfish13 6
Borrowed a thread file from work, we'll see if that cleans it up enough. I'm not planning on changing the hider out a bunch, just getting it on without destroying it with a pliers in the process...
corbin 621
Not sure if he still does rentals, but Dinzag Arms used to, I believe. He's right here in MI too. http://dinzagarms.com/tools/tkp.html
devilfish13 6
I thought about going to Dinzag, I don't think he rents them anymore, I remember reading something about that a few months ago... Anywho, the thread file cleaned it up to within a quarter inch of the FSB, block was too big for it to get closer. I ended up finding a cheap duckbill, lubing up the threads with antisieze and gently turning it on with some aluminum stock so it wouldn't screw up the brake. More or less redneck thread repair; after that, I can get my hider on, it has one spot it hangs just a little bit but not enough to make installation unpleasant. A $10 slant is definitely cheaper than a $60 die, seems to have worked about as well
