CageFighter 0
Any idea where I can get a slanted brake installed on my Saiga 762x39? Im on the east coast (nj). Unfort, Im not experienced with machining, dies, etc. Will the barrel have to be removed or can it be done with the FSB still installed? I would consider having them do a conversion as well, if just a brake install is not enuff.
BigChongus 765
It can easily be done without removing the barrel.
Avtomot 5
i suggest buying the thread kit and doing it ur self..very easy.
philip271 7
It's not that hard to do it yourself. There are some good videos on youtube. Search for Saiga Barrel Threading or Saiga 7.62 conversion to get some ideas. My local gun shop charges $50 for the job which I think is fair for the amount of work and tools you'd have to buy. CageFighter 0
looks like I prefer to have the slanted brake come up right to the FSB. Will the barrel have to be cut down to take up the slack? I think if u take 1/2in off the end of the shroud and attach the brake, it would look funny being too long. I cant seem to find too many pics of a slanted brake on a Saiga. All this work is starting to seem like a headache.
canoecanoe 63
A slanted brake on a Saiga is probably not the best application. A slant brake will be tough to index correctly as they have no good surface to grasp for tightening, even with a crush washer. Yes, you would need to cut off and recrown the barrel is you want it all the way back to the FSB since the threads are not deep enough to thread this far back. If you have to have a slant brake, the best way would be to remove the factory FSB and replace it with an AKM FSB (such as those available through RTG)with a muzzel brake detent and spring. CageFighter 0
wow....all this work? Maybe i should just get the Russian Red already done from Altlantic Firearms & sell my (2) unmodified Saigas.
philip271 7
That Classic Red does look nice! and I like how they polished and nickle plated the carrier and bolt. But at $999... It will take selling both of your Saigas... don't know I'd do that but I'm not you. =)

Avtomot 5
come on man this is a really easy job...and for what kinda brake u want i suggest the ak-74 style brake from carolina shooter supply. it was 21.95 and worth every penny. with the 74 brake and the mako recoil reducing stock i have i litteraly have less recoil than an ar-15..its beautiful.
