bpthomas85 2
Hi I've been looking for a conversion kit for the last couple of days and i landed on this one. http://www.mississippiautoarms.com/saiga-12-pistol-grip-conversion-kit-w-kicklite-collapsible-stock-p-2797.html anybody have any thoughts about this kit? Are there any cheap parts that i would want to upgrade?
chunkymonkey 1
im shopping for a conversion too. The only part that worries me about these kits is the ar extension tube adapter. Some are made of poly, some are aluminum, but they all mount with a few screws. Ive never messed with one in person and dont know how much play there is and how strong they are. Can anyone chime in? Are there any cheap parts that i would want to upgrade? That's fine. My personal preference is for the MD trigger guard option, but you should verifysure that is one with PG nut built in, or add a PG nut and cut the hole. Preference only. MD is more square and looks factory. Tromix has more of a trapezoid shape that looks more at home with quad rails and such. The stock is well built from what I've 'heard', and probably works to some extent as long as you like it a click or two out so it has room to squish. Most people are dissapointed if they use it in the most collapsed notch. I personally prefer a non-sprung stock and a good recoil pad. Skinning cats and all that. That comes with a shephard's crook, but I would pay a few bucks for a Saiga 12 specific retaining plate. You will also want hole plugs for a buck or two, and some extra magazines. Are there any cheap parts that i would want to upgrade? I'd go with these parts, out of that kit.1. Trigger Guard a. Tromix Saiga 12 Do It Yourself Trigger Guard 2. Pistol Grip c. Hogue Monogrip (Black - pictured, OD Green, Ghillie Tan) 3. Kicklite 6 Position Collapsible Stock. 4. Trigger pin holes can be filled with (Screw Build Kit or left exposed) 5. Fire Control Group a. Tromix Fire Control Group And add an AK (rifle) retaining plate instead of the damned Shepherds crook. For the forearm, I have and like both the SGM & CHAOS tri-rails. If you want to change the sights, the Krebs Customs Combat Ghost Sights.

To avoid confusion and clusterfuck, you could & probably should start your own thread. But, I'll give ya my $0.02 here for now. Go Aluminum, and go with any of these for a fixed collapsible stock. sgmsparky 0
I've been shopping around for conversions and people's likes and dislikes. Seems to me that CSS has the better prices for conversions and I like their trigger guard. Stocks are tougher to decide, collaspable, folding, fixed, tubular or maybe a collaspable folder. I haven't made up my mind, still lurking in the forums searching for answers. A friend of mine has the CSS conversion with a collaspable stock. Not impressed with the Tapco AK T6 stock. The rest of the conversion, being the moved forward trigger guard and reliability kit, is pretty neat.
msrdiver 42
FWIW Browse the pictures of other builds/restorations. I used the cheap plastic plugs to fill in the holes in my S12 and it looks good, not clean like Evils guns, but it does look good. I am on my 2nd foregrip and like it very much. I had the Tapco stock but it never felt right to me. The SGM 2 piece (top/bottom) on my gun is comfy. I like the picatinny rail up front and a smooth area to hold the gun just ahead of the magazine. I tend to use the fore grip for rapid fire and hold the smooth area when breaking clays. http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-429/SGM-SAIGA-12-QUAD/Detail
