Yes HOG76. There is a law for that. Worked out real well didn't it? The definition of stupidity is doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result. I'm willing to listen to any intelligent suggestion you may have on how to curb the murder of 20 children. Name calling doesn't count and it doesn't take a genius to know it isn't spelled "genious".

OK then, lets just keep on making more laws, maybe if it was just a little more illegal he wouldn't have done it. How about this. YOU CAN"T STOP CRAZY.

You got me on the spelling and I am sorry for the name calling, I just get pissed when something like this happens and people like you think infringing on everyone's rights somehow leads to more safety.

Thinking another assault weapons ban would help is like thinking the war on drugs is working out...

I don't about everyone else but it seems to me like stuff is more readily available than ever!!!

We're not talking guns anymore are we?

Sure we are...just giving an example.

wow.. NBC just reported that the shooter had KNOWN mental health issues. KNOWN.

Hmm...makes you wonder why the parents guns were not locked in a safe( not sure, maybe they were)given the situation or how he got access to them? Anyone heard how he gained access to the firearms used?

I pretty much stay out of political/religious/controversial subjects on the board, but not this time.

First off, my heart is heavy. If there was any comfort I could give to those that lost loved ones, I would. The problem is, having suffered through losing a child myself, I know I can't help at all. That hurts beyond expression.

Having to live in this world sucks to the extreme. I've been around long enough to see numerous inequities. I've seen scumbags repeatedly get all the breaks and honest, hardworking people suffer their entire lives. I hear that will be addressed at some point. I certainly hope so.

On to the topic at hand....(I'll try to be as brief as possible)

JMO, but I feel posters who blame the decline of religion as a root cause of the current travesties are spot on. The monolithic structure known as liberalism/socialism/communism is relentless in it's ongoing destruction of the very fabric of our society. Having moral or religious standards is rightly perceived by them as intolerable in their quest for complete domination. Understandable, since they actually see themselves as the one true deity and competition would inevitably expose their flaws.

The transformation in the US has been going on for many decades with pathetically little resistance. There have been countless losses by the conservative side, who maddeningly seem to feel it's OK to lose in increments as long as they can maintain their diminished seats of power. Power is the name of the game, after all.

Specifically though, there are two major victories by the communists that stand out. First was Social Security which introduced the populace to the false notion that government could and would be a benevolent, all providing, caretaker. While this a ludicrous ploy to the rationally thinking among us, it was eagerly endorsed by those who have come to be known as the entitlement crowd. Something for nothing became a reality. Uh oh.

More importantly though was the legalization of abortion. In one fell swoop, the communists had succeeded in both implying that it was OK to do anything you wanted without fear of consequences (via State authorized endorsement) and also stated that life was of far less value than we had formerly believed. A devastating blow to those of moral values.

What does this rambling have to do with what happened? Well, once life itself was declared of little relevance, the door was opened for disregard of anything else other than making a splash for yourself. Life lost it's overall meaning unless you could do something spectacular to set yourself apart from the crowd. Killing others, even innocent children, in order to become famous, was no longer taboo.

This chaotic social behavior is fully endorsed by the government even though they won't officially say so. Why? Simple enough. The more unruly the populace, the easier it is to implement ever stricter controls on them. Remember, it's for your own good.

Anyway, just my thoughts on what may be contributing to the madness. I'll stop. For now.

I hope everyone here that has kids did what I did when I got home and gave them a big hug and told them how much they are loved. I for one would gladly pay more in school taxes to have a few guards or metal dectors or full body scanners just to make sure not only my kids but all the children who attend their school can be safe. Kids should go to school to learn and have fun and should not have to worry about someone with a weapon trying to hurt them. If thats all it took was more money to make sure no parent ever has to go thru this not one parent would object.

My wife works at a pre-school and sees all manner of broken homes and poor parenting on a daily basis. As soon as news broke that his mother was dead - she said he was the product of a divorced home environment. She called it right.

Not that divorce leads to this crap, but when our society rights off the nuclear family and parental involvement - and self discipline - this nation began our de-evolution. Don't have to go back any farther than the '60s.

Yet one more reason not to send your kids into the public indoctrination system.

To those saying "their faith has been tested"... That's Man, Not God.

God was kicked out of the building, states, politics and conversation years ago.

Very true. A man murdered 20 elementary school kids a week before Christmas, what a heinous crime! How very very sad. How could someone be that depraved?

HOG76....I'm not about more laws. Just effectively enforcing the ones we have. I'm pissed about this also. And I'm trying hard not to be knee-jerk about it. I honestly feel there is a anti-gun storm coming and the pictures of those 20 kids will be used to shove more ineffective gun laws down our throats over the actions of one crazy fudge stick. I admit I haven't a clue how to ever stop this sort of thing...I was just throwing an idea out there. Due to the age of the victims i think this is the worse mass domestic gun crime I have ever seen. I guess the simple answer is if we are to enjoy the 2nd amendment these sort of things are always going to happen...I wish it wasn't true.

The end of that is a true, sad story.

Exactly this^^^

watch the last minute of that video. THE ONLY way to stop these things from happening is not more laws. But less prime time news about these idiots and their life story all over the papers and TVs and more news of the offenders being EXECUTED in town square!

PERIOD

Religion does not stop mental illness.

True enough, as far as it goes. But then if one is truly religious rather than just spouting a line, awareness of potential problems and possible intervention is decidedly more probable.

Thing is, way back in the day people were far more attuned to and respectful of each other and damn sure knew if there was a wacko around that bore watching. Was it specifically religion that made people more socially responsible and civilized? Not entirely in and of itself perhaps, but it certainly couldn't have hurt. Nowadays all kinds of warning signs are mentioned about shooters....after the fact. As Dogman referenced, it's all show and no go at that point.

Just some quick notes not sure if they were mentioned...

1. The guns were registered to his mom who he shot...she was responsible for the tools

2. This school had an extensive buzz in only policy and this guy got buzzed in by someone who knew him and his mom.

3. Having more guns may not prevent the violence but it may lower the body count...Bad guys are gonna snap sooner or later.

4.Because of the way he got the weapons no ampunt of law bs would have slowed him down.

My wife is also in a head-start program as a teacher. Basically a state dump off for mistreated and abused children for "schooling" (she calls it state mandated daycare). These children are so deprived of love, manners, and family structure, that they can't handle normal everyday functioning. When born into a situation like that, these kids yearn for acceptance. They typically don't get it and instead look for the best way to be remembered. Most turn to drugs or crime, and later have children sent into a similar situation as what they came from. But, some end up like this. Attempting to be the next huge headline and remembered for the ages as the guy who did that heinous thing. Now I'm in MA, so we are already in the AWB arena. I just hope that if they do pass something, it is along the lines of what we have here, but without the AWB fine print. If they just did a form of license or something like what most states have for any CCW permit, that wouldnt be so bad. If they really take it off the deep end and try to illegalize all semi-auto's that'd be taking it too far, like what these assholes are looking for (http://www1.whdh.com...-loopholes-now/)

Note to mention: Bloomberg and Menino are giant piles of shit. Couldn't even wait a few hours before springing their agenda. What fucking sniveling, emotionless, dickheads

Gave my 2 year old son a huge hug today told him how much I loved him & my wife!

Really hit me hard ... such a very sad day!!!

My heart breaks for those who lost their loved ones today!

I wonder about so many what ifs.

Why can't schools have secured locking doors for each class with escape doors for each class?

Why can't Teachers be skilled and equipped to defend our children?

I just don't know any more.

I know one thing for sure ... this world is sick & getting sicker!!!

BTW games like this don't help. Some truly sick people out there!

Nowadays all kinds of warning signs are mentioned about shooters....after the fact. As Dogman referenced, it's all show and no go at that point.

Its likely multiple factors.

People are less involved with each other, most kids seem to only talk with their thumbs..

The way humor is perceived has changed, humiliation is the favorite of the modern young person.

Entertainment is different, I watched a few older TV shows and the life style of most of the families shown was achievable with a little good luck and hard work. Now most TV shows feature the ideal life as one of unbelievable wealth. The inability to achieve your dreams does lead to strange things in peoples behavior.

The way firearms are shown in movies has changed a lot. A total and complete lack of respect for the power and danger.

Its not a single thing, its all of it.

Like I've said since the mass shooting in Norway and I will continue to say. You CANNOT gather large numbers of unarmed people without providing REAL security, trusted people with rifles. And yes I think we should have an officer of known mental balance to be at each school with a rifle, not a pistol. Rifles are for hitting complicated targets. Security fences at least, layered security like almost every court house in the country has as the goal.

Edti: Just my thought, but court houses are full of people that can pretty much defend themselves, yet most court houses have a decent security level. Schools especially elementary are full of defenseless children and teachers that are likely to not be of the disposition to kill another human. Something needs to be done to prevent violence against gatherings of people, especially schools.

Best thing I've come up with so far is. A law requiring anyone owning a firearm, who shares a dwelling with someone with a metal illness to have a safe or locking gun cabinet. Its simple and would have possibly helped in the last two cases.

No.

No, no, no, no, no. And.....no.

Video games are not at fault for people with mental illnesses doing crimes.

Elvis did not cause teenage girls to go out and get pregnant.

The Beatles did not cause kids to go out drinking and drag racing in their dads' 55 Fords.

Led Zeppelin did not cause teenagers to drop acid and smoke weed.

Punk Rock and Arnold action movies did not cause kids to go out and vandalize places when they were

told not to skate there.

First person shooters do not cause kids to go on rampages and shoot people.

In addition to being a stupid, unfounded, liberal argument, it doesn't work because a console game pad,

or a mouse and keyboard, does not teach you how to run a gun, nor does it teach you how to work with one.

I own guns, I hunt, I target shoot. I've played most video games, including most FPS games.

I have no desire to go do what they do in FPS games for one, very big, reason. In FPS games, you may kill other players,

but you also die yourself. I have one life, and I'm a moral person. I don't want to kill others, nor be killed,

and on behalf of gamers everywhere, I am insulted by your insinuations.

I don't think it is true. The problem is that people are not allowed to enjoy the second amendment as it was intended or where we sometimes really need it the most. We have the right to protect ourselves with guns. The supreme court said so. But there are all of these exceptions. And criminals take advantage of that. The answer is not necessarily more guns everywhere in everybody's hands. The answer, or at least part of the answer, is a few more guns in the right people's hands at the right time.

I never said that! Please read what I said!!!

Games about shooting Children in Schools "Don't Help" ... especially someone with acess to guns with a weakened or sick mind!

What purpose does such a game serve ??? Really?

I think most moral gun owners would be offended by this "School Shooter" Game

I don't think Video Games are responsible ... so please don't be so easily offended!

Please just think of the Families who lost Loved ones & Pray for them!
