Strap in and get ready for a rough ride people. I feel for the families. Give them all your prayers. This is so wrong. BTW, I didn't read any of the posts, but be gentle and keep in mind we might have a member who is related to a victim. God Bless.

I hope everyone here that has kids did what I did when I got home and gave them a big hug and told them how much they are loved. I for one would gladly pay more in school taxes to have a few guards or metal dectors or full body scanners just to make sure not only my kids but all the children who attend their school can be safe. Kids should go to school to learn and have fun and should not have to worry about someone with a weapon trying to hurt them. If thats all it took was more money to make sure no parent ever has to go thru this not one parent would object.

Gave my 2 year old son a huge hug today told him how much I loved him & my wife!

Really hit me hard ... such a very sad day!!!

My heart breaks for those who lost their loved ones today!

I wonder about so many what ifs.

Why can't schools have secured locking doors for each class with escape doors for each class?

Why can't Teachers be skilled and equipped to defend our children?

I just don't know any more.

I know one thing for sure ... this world is sick & getting sicker!!!

BTW games like this don't help. Some truly sick people out there!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9y63h_p5h9U

No.

No, no, no, no, no. And.....no.

Video games are not at fault for people with mental illnesses doing crimes.

Elvis did not cause teenage girls to go out and get pregnant.

The Beatles did not cause kids to go out drinking and drag racing in their dads' 55 Fords.

Led Zeppelin did not cause teenagers to drop acid and smoke weed.

Punk Rock and Arnold action movies did not cause kids to go out and vandalize places when they were

told not to skate there.

First person shooters do not cause kids to go on rampages and shoot people.

In addition to being a stupid, unfounded, liberal argument, it doesn't work because a console game pad,

or a mouse and keyboard, does not teach you how to run a gun, nor does it teach you how to work with one.

I own guns, I hunt, I target shoot. I've played most video games, including most FPS games.

I have no desire to go do what they do in FPS games for one, very big, reason. In FPS games, you may kill other players,

but you also die yourself. I have one life, and I'm a moral person. I don't want to kill others, nor be killed,

and on behalf of gamers everywhere, I am insulted by your insinuations.

Video games are not at fault for people with mental illnesses doing crimes.

I never said that! Please read what I said!!!

Games about shooting Children in Schools "Don't Help" ... especially someone with acess to guns with a weakened or sick mind!

What purpose does such a game serve ??? Really?

I think most moral gun owners would be offended by this "School Shooter" Game

I don't think Video Games are responsible ... so please don't be so easily offended!

Please just think of the Families who lost Loved ones & Pray for them!

Thats not an actual game, its a patch or third part add on made by someone with a small amount of programming knowledge. The game is half life 2, which is why all the "students" have those blue coverall prison uniforms on. I'd imagine the game was removed from the server as it likely violates terms of use for game levels or add ons.

True evil.

The U.N. WEAPONS BAN is coming up for a vote here in March, how convenient.

Killing a bunch of people in a movie theater wasn't good enough, now they are killing our babies to scare people into supporting the U.N. WEAPONS BAN.

Another FALSE FLAG OPERATION brought to you by the perpetrators of the Tuskegee Experiments, Operation Northwoods, Operation Gladio, the Waco massacre, & Operation Fast & Furious.

Our evil, corrupt, self serving, imcompetent government will do anything undermine the 2nd Amendment.

yes but Israel has a law that requires all of their citizens to serve in their military after the age of 18 if they are able bodied this means most of their Adults citizens are or have been soldiers this is completely different from the US i bet you there is a high percentage of elementary school teachers that have not even seen or held a real firearm in their lifetimes let alone being capable of thinking clearly and fast enough to do what they have to do in a situation.

this is almost like expecting a serious basketball game when watching Micheal Jordan play one on one with Steven Hawking its not going to end well.

for protecting what i consider our nations greatest asset our children our future you need a professional or atleast someone trained enough to make not only decisions but right decisions quickly and act quickly.

maybe 4 year active duty or 6 year reserves should be a requirement to be a teacher and this would never happen hell maybe teaching these kids a little discipline and responsibility and there wouldn't be as many mentally ill people out there.

My condolences to the families nothing we can say now will ease their pain but i hope that one day they can all find peace in their souls.

@ my age there's only two characters that I'll ever remember the names of, & on that regard ever speak there name again. These types of "people" arent heretics or martyrs...just pure evil. We only have one shot at the lives we live, and our responsibilities extend far beyond our own lives but that of others. my prayers out to everyone @ ground zero. It's time we took a good look at what our society has created in the last 20 years before we sling mud at the traditions we've lived by for so many.

I am deeply saddened by what has happened. The shooter had serious mental issues and should not have had access to weapons. His actions were evil. It is better that he is dead. There will be legislation as a result of this incident as it is far too politically powerful for things to remain static.

My heart breaks for this community.

My kids were at the local Jewish Community Center for daycare for years (we're not Jewish but they have a very good program). They always had an armed security guard at the front of the building. If he was sick they had 2 or 3 back ups to fill in, but there was always someone there. Super nice guy and very good at his job. When the nearby Bank of America was robbed and the JCC went on lock down, I was totally confident that Grover (yes his name is Grover) had that place secure.

So where do we go from here?

1) School security mileage (someone else above posted and I think it's a great idea).

2) Better mental health care in this country. As my footer says, "guns aren't the problem. Crazy is the problem." Damn near every shooter has had mental health problems. That is the only clear link that can be drawn. And find away of keeping guns out of their hands.

I never thought I'd say this, but there needs to be some sort of change to gun laws in the US. We shouldn't have to turn fucking elementary schools - ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS! - into armed fortresses because we can't, as a nation, get our collective shit together with regard to gun violence.

We are animals. It is in our instinct to kill. We will always kill, be it with our bare hands or with a weapon, the killing will NEVER stop until we are all dead. Thousands of gun laws exist already and it hasn't stopped a damn thing. Criminals and crazies are not concerned with the law, period. you are naive if you think more laws will stop humans from killing. History has proven that it does not work.

We should go in the other direction. Carry laws should be loosened for the law abiding citizen. Open carry, etc.. If the criminals know that more people are armed everywhere they might go, maybe their plans of easily fleecing children/shoppers/co-workers of their lives won't sound so easy. If they do decide to press forward, the probability of someone being armed would be higher and the "spree" could be stopped sooner.... before 20+ people are killed.

I think the media is to blame for some of this. Losers who know they will never amount to anything are aware that they will be infamous if they go out and kill a bunch of people and the media will make them nationally known. It is fame in their minds.

Apparently the actual guns used in this crime were handguns. Although a Bushmaster and a shotgun were found in a car they were not used by this shit bag. However the fu*cks in the media will make it look like a semi rifle is ALL he used. If this is indeed the case it need to be made known when the AWB bullshite resurfaces.

When Charles Whitman started popping off rounds from my alma mater's Science tower in Austin. He was limited to 16 people in the first few minutes because he was pinned down by CIVILIAN FIRE from every "good ole boy" with a deer rifle or 30-30 and allowed the police to advance on his position. That saved more lives than anything. That country no longer exists today. That's a tragedy. booo.gif

The recent ones all seem to have been commited by people with mental illness flags all over their backgrounds.

Yep. And this time it's 8 and 10 year old targets...

Many more people are mentally ill than those who are ever adjudicated mentally defective or committed to institutions (adjudication and commitment are really formal processes). Hell, for the duration that anyone's GP is prescribing prozac or sleepaids or whatever that might bring about a case of the crazies, those people shouldn't be anywhere near firearms!

Yet small, stupid check-box questions are the only things that will weed-out ill-intentioned gun buyers who aren't already on government radar. Form 4473 is fucking stupid -- using the honor system as a gatekeeper to firearms is proving itself as ineffective as it is fucking stupid.

I am a gun owner, and I am a concealed carry permit holder in Delaware. The process for concealed carry here is practical and should be applied to gun ownership in general. It requires references, background investigation, brief written statements, brief training, and a judge's approval.

Make every gun owner go through that process and renew on a 3 to 5 year basis. Grant extra privileges, like automatic concealed carry. Hell, might as well allow people silencers and full auto if quality checks could be done. It's reasonable, and good people will still keep access to guns.

I understand 2A is viewed as a right by many, but it's apparent to me that that the people who abuse 2A take away many more rights and pursuits of their victims. For that reason, I am ok framing 2A as a privilege.

I sort of doubt bureaucracy could deal with it properly, though.

You are a fucking idiot. Juges approval that obviously coming from an idiot that lives in a socialist state. Move to real America.

I heard someone say last night on CNN, "if all the guns could be removed that would be different".

Unfortunately this tragedy very well may be the tipping point for more gun control

My wife is only slowly coming around to my views on guns and the 2A.

She came home from work yesterday and saw the LEO response on the TV and said, "Thank God the cops got there quick and put a stop to this or it could have been even worse."

Then I explained to her that the shooting was all over and the shooter was already dead when the cops got there.

She thought on that for a second and then said, "Well then somebody in the schools needs to be able to stop these guys when they attack."

And I said, "Yes. Exactly right."

post-27774-0-30210000-1355548087.jpg

Worth repeating.

Great picture. This seems to be a common theme in many of the shootings. Firearms just happen to be unpopular with the domestic anti-gun crowd while the medications are accepted. It's not difficult to guess where the anti-gun crowd's probable attack will be coming from. And the notion people are just going to bury their heads in the sand and not talk about this school shooting is silly. News is news and society has a long history of discussing tragedies no matter how brutal. If the pro-gun crowd does not get involved then we would have only ourselves to blame for any erosion of our gun rights. The picture of the school teacher in Israel carrying a gun hasn't stopped violence either. It's a good start and I agree with it 100%, as long as the teachers are stable and not all doped up on head medicine. With teachers unions, the ACLU, and medical disclosure laws that medical information may not be available as well. Also, over in Israel the crazies have simply adapted. They plant bombs or wear the damn things and walk into a crowd. At least that form of murder hasn't became popular in america... yet! Many of the shooting spree killers are suicidal anyway so whats the difference between a bomb or a gunshot? I doubt the anti-gun crowd would likely take into consideration the extreme gun control laws which are not working in Israel when determined individuals decide people have to die. The picture above makes a lot of sense and effective enforcement of that idea is a good place to start in my humble opinion. A former poster on this thread recommended if a mentaly ill individual is living in a dwelling where firearms are kept they should be under lock and key. While not a 100% solution I have to agree. Even though no person in my household takes these kinds of medications I still have all of my firearms and ammunition separated and under lock and key....except for (1) personal defense weapon I keep loaded and hidden. I hope the NRA does it's best to get out in front of this incident. The media is sure pushing the idea of resurrecting the assault rifle ban.

I just saw on the news a Bartlesville Oklahoma high school student, 18 year old Sammie Chavez, was arrested for another shooting/bomb plot at that high school planned for the same day as the Connecticut elementary school murders. Students he tried to enlist to help him turned him in.

Seems odd that the weapon used was reported as a pair of pistols with an AR-15 in a car along with a shotgun.. And now the only firearm being reported is the AR-15, which the police said was in the car.

See post #194 You see, that took less than 24 hrs before the BS started. MSNBC stating in fact this was the ONLY weapon used. If you can tolerate those miscreants on MSNBC (i could only tolerate 5 minutes) within in that time it was all gun control. They are f'ing foaming at the mouth over this. Sick, sick bastards! Cannot even let the blood dry to push their BS.
