Ok then I apologize. I in no way meant to offend anyone. Most of my experiences with liberals were not so good in the gun control region.. Sorry if I offended anybody,

I understand your anger and frustration. I have had plenty of run ins with the type that you mentioned (especially these days). That being said I also know quite a few liberals who are also gun owners and hunters. They hunt their own meat because it's healthier for the environment and the animal involved. These same liberals facepalm hardcore when idiots like Feinstein or Hangun inc are brought up. I see these people as a moderating force in the Democratic party when it comes to guns. These people are also part of the reason why we don't have the AWB still. Frankly we need these people on our side if we want to keep irrational laws from being passed.

Now as for me I've been called everything (generally on the liberal side) so I'm not even sure what I'm classified as.

EDIT : I just wanted to say you're a good man for apologizing like that. While I wasn't expecting an apology you decided to go above and beyond to do so and I salute you for that.

EDIT 2 : My ex-wife's family is pretty liberal (grandfather ran as a democrat back in the day) but they are very much pro-gun freedom. Even her family in Quebec who are french Canadian own and hunt with their guns.

point being - should we start buying up more ammo and firearms BEFORE they are banned - with the latest press conference by the president of USA himself crying on TV - yea - I think we might see a ban on magazines, ammunition quanities, and firearm types - it won't matter if a Saiga 12 with detachable magazine was used or not.

Yeah I can see either a ban on import ammo and/or severe restrictions on online purchases. There was quite a bit of talk about the online purchases after the moron shot up the theater. I also think that standard capacity mags are going to be threatened too. Edited by Tool_of_Society

To be honest Gabrielle Giffords was a pro gun lib that carried the same model gun she was shot with and she was for gun rights. Her husband I feel looked like a tool at the dirtbags sentancing talking gun control because it went against what she believed. She was a CCL. The only thing I can say is have enough ammo to hold you for dry times and buy range ammo and rotate it out of your stock.I have some for a rainy day. That or get a Saigs .223. Thats a hunting round. Been thinking a lot about it myself. 7.62 is just exiting to shoot. Deep report. nice flash. Wife giggled her ass off when she shot it the first time.(Did my Saiga 7,62 in Russian red for her.) Her comment was it's better then those pussy AR15s I have shot before. Before I met her she went shooting with guys she works with. Bunch of AR guys.lol Stock up, Rotate out range ammo to keep things fresh.

The bottom line is that we are in danger of losing our 2nd amendment rights and this is being driven by the liberal progressives (read Democrats). Yes, you should stock up on ammo and larger capacity magazines as these will be the first to be banned. The liberal progressives feel that every situation should be exploited to further their leftist agenda. It is a travesty that they are doing so in light of this tragedy. The shooter is responsible, not the firearms or ammo.

No offense intended to those of the liberal persuasion, just a statement of facts as I see them.

I dont think anything is going to happen well up until the conneticuit shooting..

My heart goes out to all of those affected by that tragedy. All of those poor childeren. I just dont see how you can look down your sights with a child on the other end.

Any ways I hope nothing happens as far as a ban but they should definatly make it harder to acquire guns..like a psych test or something.

fuck that shit. so does that mean if we already own them we are grandfathered in? Banning assault weapons isnt gonna do it. Just because there are car accidents every year that kill people does that mean they should ban cars? If they are gonna do something like that instead of banning they should make it harder to obtain "assault" weapons. Like instead of being able to go out and buy an ar-15 you should have to assemble it your self. These guys that go out and kill people on these shooting sprees arent the kind of people that like guns as a hobby they just want a weapon they can get thats ready to rock and roll.

There are no such things as assault weapons. There are on the other hand assault rifles. The term "assault weapon" was made up in the 90s to help gin up fear ahead of what became the "assault weapon ban" aka the scary gun ban. I ask that you don't stoop to using their propaganda when discussing guns.

What's really crazy is that with the advances in 3d printing and advanced machining the whole concept of a gun ban becomes less and less enforceable.

Can you elaborate why?

Because you can already print several gun parts? When the plastics become strong enough you'll be able to print the majority of the parts for any weapon at home. Since the receiver is the only part that is considered a gun you should still be able to get a barrel and other required hard points without issue.

What many fail to realize is that your state government is the government we should all fear most in terms of our gun rights. This is evident by the drastically different gun control laws between each of the 50 states. The state government has a ton of flexibility and power when it comes to the "health, safety, and welfare" of its citizens. That being said, there is a very real possibility that the federal government could step in and substantially limit all of our Second Amendment rights.

If our second amendment rights are limited, this could be effectuated unilaterally by congress (subject to the veto power of the president). In this regard, there is little to nothing we could do other than challenge the constitutionality of this act of Congress and/or challenge their authority to act (pursuant to the commerce clause of our constitution more than likely). In this event, there would more than likely be a grandfathering in of weapons and mags.

My greatest fear is there being a reactionary super majority of states to ratify our constitution to undue the Second Amendment. In that event, all the stocking up in the world will not prevent its effect. Look to the countries that have disallowed guns (or specific types of guns - i.e. handguns), there was little to no recourse for the gun owner. Pursuant to our constitution (4th amendment), we would all need to be fairly compensated for the governmental taking of our guns, ammo, and accessories. While I attribute ample sentimental and intangible value to being a gun owner, we would never be compensated for these amounts.

That being said, I am a liberal, atheist, attorney, gun owner. I think there are a ton of conservatives who are anti-guns, and a similar number of liberals who are pro-guns. The real issue is our gun rights and what each pro gun advocate is willing to do to secure and preserve said rights.

I strongly disagree with that statement! The "Bill Of Rights" comes into play for Americans! You cannot restrict rights from one American to restrict the rights of another. All the psych tests will not stop a person from commiting a crime! Remove guns from society and cars will be the next weapon...and so on!

Our forefathers gave us this great Republic so long as we can keep it!

Ya the assault rifle is not what is dangerous here its fucked up youth and society not knowing how to handle them. attack the fucking mental health department on not keeping tabs on their crazzies.

No assault rifle was involved. The only thing involved was a long rifle and two pistols.

An assault rifle is a select-fire (either fully automatic or burst capable) rifle that uses an intermediate cartridge and a detachable magazine. It is not to be confused with assault weapons.[1] Assault rifles are the standard service rifles in most modern armies. Assault rifles are categorized in between light machine guns, which are intended more for sustained automatic fire in a light support role, and submachine guns, which fire a pistol cartridge rather than a rifle cartridge.

Don't fall for the anti-gun crowds rhetoric..

"Assault/military styled rifle weapon" or something like that is what I have heard in the news lately. I know I heard it come from Scarborough though at least once. I didn't care for the reference, nor the contrived tears.

I'm sure we'll hear LOTS of "assault styled" or "military styled" weapon references in the future.
