Mainstream media already posting hit-pieces on the NRA

Recommended Posts

http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2012/12/21/nra-guns-newtown-reaction/1784957/

Highlights feature:

Putting more guns in school will only encourage gunmen and militias to further stockpile weapons.

And despite the NRA waiting for decency sake until the dead has been buried unlike the gun-grabbing bafoons, they get this:

The fact that the NRA announced it will be supporting an initiative to put more armed guards in school just an hour after the embattled community observed a moment of silence for the dead showed poor taste, Paynter said.

Craig Mittleman, 50, a Newtown emergency physician, said he wasn't surprised by the NRA's position but was nonetheless appalled by the brazenness of the comments, especially coming just a week after the incident.

Not one single mention of someone agreeing or weighing in on the positives of the NRA's press conference. This kind of unbalance, one-sided, character assassination journalism is disgusting... but is apparently the new norm for American mainstream media. Things have reached an all time low.

The fact that the majority of the MSM is poo pooing each and every word said at the press conference should come as no surprise, they could have written their stories yesterday. But the apparent fact that this program is moving forward and will not be dependent on the government means that each and every school district will have to make a decision whether or not to be involved.

I think many will choose to enhance their security. And I think the parents will have a lot to say about it as opposed to politicians living in gated communities whose kids attend private schools.

So if you asked the average parent "Who you like to have 1 or more additional trained security personnel at your child's school?"...how do you think the majority would answer? How would YOU answer?

Honestly, the NRA should have took a stance on keeping weapons out of the hands of those mentally incompetant instead of pushing the cops in schools agenda. It has already been analyzed and found to be economically unfeasable for schools let alone malls, movie theaters, etc. I was pretty disappointed with the press conference.

I agree with Indy. I'm just not surprised.

NRA has been recording just recently, 8000 new members joining the NRA a day. That's not membership renewals, that's new members they didn't have before.

This is a desperate push by the liberal news media attempting to decieve congress into believing that they have the majority of the American people when they clearly do not.

NRA has also reported that in their zeal to attack the NRA over the idea of putting trained armed guards in schools, the liberal media went against the Gallop Poll that released it's poll that the majority of polled Americans side with the trained armed guards idea.

They don't have the majority on their side and that is what we need to emphisize to our Congressmen/women to win this fight.

The mediagasm of all the news outlets rolling in the blood of 20 children and 6 adults and doing 24 hour coverage on this gave the perpetrator the attention he wanted and will only inspire more to do so. The same happened with the Batman shootings, Virginia Tech, the Gifford shootings and all the ones where the body count was high because of a gun free zone (notice the Oregon Mall shooting has not been mentioned, nor San Antonio from this month).

The media is the biggest reason mentally ill fucks harm the innocent - the news will make them famous and give them the notoriety they couldn't otherwise achieve.

They will never point the finger at themselves because they see themselves as the elite class that are not subject to any scrutiny under their First Amendment rights, but seek to destroy all the other Amendments with their power.

To be clear, I do not think the proposal is necessarily to put additional LEOs in schools although Mr. LaPierre did seem to contradict himself. At one point he said;

Now, the National Rifle Association knows that there are millions of qualified active and retired police; active, reserve and retired military; security professionals; certified firefighters and rescue personnel; and an extraordinary corps of patriotic, trained qualified citizens to join with local school officials and police in devising a protection plan for every school. We can deploy them to protect our kids now. We can immediately make America's schools safer — relying on the brave men and women of America's police force.

So I'm not sure if he's talking about non LEO volunteers or "America's police force". I would think trained, certified armed security officers could be used as opposed to active duty status Police Officers.

It really shouldn't be a surprise to anyone how the liberal media is responding to the NRA's press conference; however that doesn't make their reporting any less appalling. Just look at when a few days ago they simply announced that they would be having a press conference on today's date. Liberal media outlets jumped all over it with alarmist fear mongering headlines without anything more substantive than a simple announcement.

I saw one line somewhere that said the NRA was "hiding" because they had not made a statement, now their insensitive for holding a press conference a week later. It's damned if you do, damned if you don't. It seems the MSM has a rock hard on for the NRA...but that's ok you don't exist for 141 years and not learn a thing or two about how to defend yourself and get things done.

I know some on the Gun Rights side of the fence don't like the NRA for one reason or another but I think it's time to close ranks and support each other because this fight looks to be for keeps.

In the press conference they said their focus was to be on what could be done immediately, not debating for legislation as that will happen down the road. Speaking of the economics, there's no reason it can't be done with minimal expense. In my county there are enough retired police officers already working as part time special deputies that could be assigned to our schools. Increase those numbers with a voluntary program of qualified, vetted volunteers and you'd have more than enough people to be there in an official capacity. There's no reason on earth that an elementary school shouldn't have an armed guard when my social security office does.

it's all about disarming the people and nothing else. it's just a damn shame that the ignorant American sheeple are to dumb to realize that tyranny and socialism is just around the corner. be nice with sympathy then complete the slaughter....they just don't remember Adolph and U.S. history and i really think they don't even care. history has been proven to repeat itself.

Dittos Risky...here in SC if you're proficient enough to not have a problem qualifying at the range the training to obtain a card to work as a Certified Armed Security Officer is not that extensive so it's doable for sure. These security people wouldn't have to have full blown LE training, just a narrow scope of what they're supposed to do. I think it's a good idea. Between this, concealed carry and doing away with "Security Free" zones I think mass shooting could become a thing of the past.

Of course all this addresses the real problem and saves lives but it won't satisfy the banners and grabbers. They talk of "common sense" but don't want to hear about anything that doesn't end with guns being hauled off to the scrap yard.

Funny how they say the NRA is insensitive for only waiting a week, when the anit's didn't even wait till the news cast was finished unfolding before they started screaming for a ban. I guess Obama was just flat fucking heartless for adressing it the other day? What fucking planet do these people live on?

Seriously, is that even possible with all the bullshit "privacy" laws in place? unsure.png

Newspapers can print lists of licensed CCW holders, but just try and print a list of the people in the town who have undergone some form of psychiatric counselling, and watch the media go batshit nuts with that idea. You can just forget that happening if the crazy person in question is under 18 years of age. rolleyes.gif

That's what cracks me up with watching the local news of a big metropolitan area when someone with thirty (or more) prior convictions for firearms violations get released back on the street. You can almost imagine Shelia Broflovsky's "what, what, what" when that fact finally sinks into the news bitches brains. laugh.png

I can understand why the media is lashing out. There were two large screens on either side of the podium and they pulled up an online game called "Kindergarten Killers" and Wayne said this;

Through vicious, violent video games with names like Bulletstorm, Grand Theft Auto, Mortal Kombat and Splatterhouse. And here's one: it's called Kindergarten Killers. It's been online for 10 years. How come my research department could find it and all of yours either couldn't or didn't want anyone to know you had found it?

Put the smackdown on em...and the butthurt is flowing. He also said;

And throughout it all, too many in our national media ... their corporate owners ... and their stockholders ... act as silent enablers, if not complicit co-conspirators. Rather than face their own moral failings, the media demonize lawful gun owners, amplify their cries for more laws and fill the national debate with misinformation and dishonest thinking that only delay meaningful action and all but guarantee that the next atrocity is only a news cycle away.

The media call semi-automatic firearms "machine guns" — they claim these civilian semi-automatic firearms are used by the military, and they tell us that the .223 round is one of the most powerful rifle calibers ... when all of these claims are factually untrue. They don't know what they're talking about!

Worse, they perpetuate the dangerous notion that one more gun ban — or one more law imposed on peaceful, lawful people — will protect us where 20,000 others have failed!

So the media will probably get more and more shrill.

Its not a surprise that the NRA is the whipping post. A group that spearheads training, even for law enforcement, and in every way is a positive for all, whether they own a gun or not.

I wanted to post to encourage you that are not members to join today. The press conference mentions 4 million members, but what about the other 148 million that own guns?! I assume some are here. I am not an ad man for the NRA, but for god sakes, show your support with a year's membership, and do it now! Its only about $35 if I remember right, and even if its a lot, the show of support with cash is much more valuble now than ever, and it will cost less than the loss of your guns!
