csspecs 1,987
Vepr rifles are made in a different plant in a different area. Roughly 200 miles apart, they likely make their own parts since they both have roughly the same equipment setups (Molot having more precise, Izhmash being higher production). The cause of the slow down is due to the plant restructuring after a loss of its government contract AK rifles. They are apparently retooling for AK-12 production which will likely spill over into the saiga line. AK-12 has a different gas system ect. Nothing big enough to stop importation should laws stay the same. Just will require different parts for conversions. It does seem that the days of the classic AK pattern rifle are drawing to a close and a new system will become the standard.
Maxwelhse 1,285
For the last 3 years every S-12 they could make has been sold before it hit the shore. I can't imagine they're intentionally slowing production down.

inzami 36
Russian military manufacturing model is still Soviet style, Izhmash (Saiga manufacturer) has to employ a lot of people but without large scale contracts, there's no money so the workers often go unpaid for many weeks/months. Also the management often embezzles the money anyway as their goals are usually just to enrich themselves as fast as possible. There are some signs of re-structuring but it will take some time plus Russian military still hasn't agreed to AK-12 acquisition but its likely to be a political rather than technical decision. Molot (Vepr manufacturer) seems to have better management nowdays that's why we are seeing all kinds of new items making it ashore here, hoping they will get STANAG and 9mm versions in soon. VR762Shooter 838
I'm hoping Molot sends over some of them Mosins they have listed on their site. A chrome lined, cosmo-free Mosin would be great, equipped with a rail for optics, even better

It's like taking a butter face virgin to prom. You may not like to look at her from the front but what you see when you're holding her from behind is fantastic
