Anybody tried the Roni Pistol Carbine Setup?

Recommended Posts

Yea, sorta. I started out looking for a carbine that would use glock mags with no luck on anything in stock. I have several Springfield XDm 9 pistols and saw this. That's almost funny that a handgun becomes NFA to use this. I guess it makes sense. That wouldn't bother me too much.

I have handled them. They are a little "busy". Too much going on there. I may SBR one of my Glocks and build my own chassis. I have come to realize that I have an eye for design and mechanical things, so I may give it a shot. I want to do something similar to what MAGPUL did.

I agree with you on that. the one I like was made by FAB DEFENSE, it's clean:

Are you talking about the flashlight/pistol? I would be interested to see anything you might come up with. Thank you for your thoughts.

Yes. I'm torn between using Delrin or Aluminum. Aluminum will be less expensive for the Glock chassis, but I need a big block of Delrin for another evl plan that I have for something a bit more interesting, so I may end up dropping the coin for the polymer. However, I thought of using a thick piece of Kydex as an effort to keep it easy to make and extremely light. I look at how thin some of the polymer firearm products are these days and it is inspiring.

Delrin isn't the only choice there. Ertalyte and Nylatron are even lighter and do better on the self lubricating things. Delrin can absorb solvents and oil and expand. I have PB parts made from all 3 and Nylatron weighs nothing. Cool stuff.

i'm assuming you have to apply for your SBR prior to purchasing these?

I'm no expert, by far, but I would suggest having the approved Form 1 and the weapon engraved before receiving the chassis. 10 years is a long time....

I have two of them.

Running the RONI with a 17 suppressed is a very nice package. It allows you to maximize the 9mm. Have a 9mm RONI and a GLOCK pistol as a go kit is a nice rig. I prefer it over my MP5 clone YES I know that sounds crazy but Glocks go bang and aren't to finicky about mags & ammo.

RONI

GLOCK 19

YHM Suppressor

Surefire light

Cheap red dot (sports a PA dot now)

check out glr440 that can be purchased as a stock or even a nice camera stabilizer.

also the GIS scope mount and FCH charging handle.

light weight and less space junk.

go with the FAB over the CAA. Both from Israel but not exactly the same quality.

alternatively, you can buy one from a red neck in montana without any paperwork or id...
