TheGreenPotato 0
The combination I plan on replacing the original wood stock with... I'm set on attaching the Magpul ACS-L Mil-Spec Carb Stock to a Vepr-12/RPK folding stock with integral M4 collapsable stock Does anyone have this setup yet? I'm wondering if the ACS-L might be too fat to allow the folding stock to lock into place along side the gun. What are your thoughts?
obiwanbonjovi 337
The ACS is too fat. Any stock over 1.5" wide won't fold parallel, and anything over 1.75" wide wont fold far enough to be held forward by the spring.
TheGreenPotato 0
Ahhh just as I'd feared. I'll keep looking. I'm looking at the CTR, but I can't find any specs on the width of these stocks
obiwanbonjovi 337
ctrs are fine they fold right.
TheGreenPotato 0
Great! Glad to hear it, thank you
DresNightfire 39
The ACS-L is slimmer than the ACS, I wonder if that will possibly fold better...
scarbrough68289 76
I found this on somethingawful while searching GOOGLE to see if the combo would work. I want to do the same thing but on a RH folder for my VEPR .308. I have an AR set up with a ACS-L and another with the CTR. I'll try it out when I get the folder before ordering a dedicated stock for it....if I can find the BONESTEEL in stock when I'm ready to buy (tax returns..soon)
TheGreenPotato 0
Awesome, I really liked the ACS-L and hearing that kindof hurt Can't wait to see if you can pull it off! The ACS-L is slimmer than the ACS, I wonder if that will possibly fold better... That's what I was hoping. Still can't find dimensions on width though. I never wanted the ACS because it seemed way too fat, but I still wanted a place to store my "tactical treats" lol... Edited January 31, 2013 by TheGreenPotato
DresNightfire 39
I have an ACE AR folding mechanism also, but refuse to cut off the tang on the VEPR, so I'm using the bonesteel AR folder instead. I have an ACS-L on order and will report back to see if it folds all the way.
TheGreenPotato 0
Yeah, I hate the idea of making a permanent mod when I might switch to something else someday. Let me know how it goes!
MAKAK47 21
I just put a CTR on mine today, folds up great, I'm wondering if the ACS-L won't fold down completely extended because of the RPK style heat reinforcements on the receiver
DresNightfire 39
I tested this out a week ago, it does not fold completely (unlike the ACE folding mechanism) because the magwell gets in the way of it folding completely: Also, I was not completely satisfied how the ACS-L looks with the VEPR 12, so I got rid of it. (I just stuck to the STR - looks much better.)
