lZl Jody lZl 1
Thank you to all the contributors on this forum for the wealth of knowledge on maintenance, parts, mods and ammo reviews. I knew I wanted a Saiga shotgun before finding this forum and now I appreciate it even more. While browsing through the site, I've picked up on some do's/do not's and thought a thread for the most common do not's would be nice. Is anyone up for sharing some experiences so we can avoid the most common mistakes when converting a Saiga?
Big John! 2,062
Do not NOT take the advice of th OG's on this forum. I've seen a lot of threads lately where people ask a question and don't follow the advice given because thay actually have to work on their gun instead of just throwing money at it. $.
lZl Jody lZl 1
Will do! I may be able to save somebody 40 bucks from my experience so far. I ordered a FCG for my conversion and it needed a different trigger guard for the pistol grip. Keep that in mind when ordering parts. misterT 174
DONT start throwing parts in to convert your Saiga UNTILL you shot it enough to determine that it cycles reliably in stock form. DONT by reliability kits, springs, special gas pistons etc untill you have the NEW FCG & the bolt and carrier profiled and polished to work smoothly DONT put a "cheap" quad rail on before you know that it cycles properly, many of these PINCH the gas tube causing problems. DO Watch the CSS conversion videos before tearing it apart, beware of some of the U TUBE PROFESSIONALS VIDEOS! DO Look through the PICS thread to se what others have done and read reviews of different parts BEFORE you buy them. DO Take your time and have a clean area to lay the parts out and work it will only take a few hours but if you get stuck ASK questions. DO USE THE FORUM SEARCH FUNCTION, nearly ANY question you have has been asked and answered before!
