vinni83 148
Hello Guys. Some of you think "that the Russian people keep there guns "stock" or unmodified". This is not true. Over the past few years, Russian companies have developed many interesting options for tuning Saiga and other rifles based on the Kalashnikov. Russian hunters and fans of "practical shooting" (IPSС.ru) is not only familiar with the products of such well-known companies like CAA, Fab Defens, Tapco, Magpul, Leaper/UTG, Tromix, Ultimak etc. but actively use them. Russian arms factories such as Izhmash & Molot also created new accessories and upgrade manufactured products.Often, these developments do not become serial, but this does not become less interesting. In addition in the Russian market is gradually emerging new commercial plantengaged in the production parts for gunsmithing. In this topic, I will tell you about the most interesting options & components to improve Saiga created in Russia. I'll try any of your questions. I apologize for my English. I'm still learning. SgtRaven 531
That's what I was thinking. But ATF and 922® are protecting us from all that Russki influence. (Pure sarcasm: no offense to our Russian Members and Guests).
vinni83 148
Talk a little about the modern Russian guns legislation. We have very strict laws in terms of tuning firearms. Barrel, receiver, bolt, you can not change. For example you can not put a muzzle brake at home (you can not make a thread on the barrel), only in a licensed shop with police permission. You can not have a length weapons of less than 800 mm . So my Saiga stock folded can not shoot. But if you do not drill or cut, you can change the the hand guard or grip or butt (stock folded it should not shoot ). Created guns can only weapons armory.Conversions hunting Saiga in Kalasnikov is prohibited even in a licensed shop. But AKM converted into a hunting rifle (removed automatic firing mode) can be purchased at any guns store for $ 500. In order to get permission for the rifle is first necessary to have five years of the shotgun. And to be a law-abiding citizen. Equip itself cartridges for rifles is also prohibited. Russian weapons legislation is very complex and intricate. Even our police officers in it confused. Eg replacement of the butt stock is not allowed & nor prohibited. Silencers you can not use on the weapon, but they can be bought and sold. All rifles (AKM, SVD, SKS) are recorded as hunting weapons, even a new Saiga 9 * 19 (Vityaz) will also be hunting carbine. For hunting weapons can not be installed military sights, but Izhmash sells SVD (Tiger) with sight PSO.

vinni83 148
Let's start with the first image - Izhevsk local legends say: this an experimental batch Saiga was collected specifically for customers in Israel. Back in the early 2000's. A few copies left in Izhevsk. Assembling weapons carried by the Legion. As seen in the photo on the Saiga sights set type Ak & original bolt handle Galil type. The standard plastic butt replaced with metal-frame of AKS-74. Pistol grips VEPR 12 (Molot). SgtRaven 531
I always liked AK's OEM integrated folding mechanism and its neat release design (first tried it on Gen 2 AKS-74). I still like it so much, I stopped fooling around with external aftermarket substitutes. Keep it coming! Edited February 13, 2013 by Sgt. Raven
vinni83 148
I am dont like metal-frame on AKS-74. Standart plastik butt-stock by AK-100 is much more convenient.

HateTheSnow 29
Very interesting pictures and information. Despite all the complex and restrictive gun laws in Russia, you have still managed to come up with some very cool looking configurations. And I love the law where changing the stock is neither allowed nor prohibited. That sounds like some of our crazy laws...like in my area you are allowed to buy and sell fireworks, but it is illegal to use them. Thanks for sharing, and please feel free to keep them coming!

Not to bring down an awesome thread but if you're going to bash the younger generation's English maybe you should check your own grammar and spelling. "Alot" isn't a word and "better than" is what you should use when comparing things.

SgtRaven 531
Let's stay on topic, Partners. After all, we're all "Brothers-in-Saigas" here. Two questions for vinni83: 1) What about Tigr and Vepr (and so their conversions)? 2) Russian "Gun Control": is it a Federal regulation or regional? Thanks in advance! Two questions for vinni83: 1) What about Tigr and Vepr (and so their conversions)? 2) Russian "Gun Control": is it a Federal regulation or regional? Thanks in advance! 1) Tiger / SVD is a sniper weapon. Very few experts are able to make the right home bedding, or rubbing the sight in the ring ... Even properly installed bipod on Tiger requires a good experience. The best model bipod creating special for SVD - is "C-1" There is an option new handguard production company STK This is not a good solution. Often our hunters bought a tree for yourself. About Vepr, I say in the future. 2) These laws apply to the entire territory of Russia.

SgtRaven 531
Those are some beautiful "trees". Walnut (Rus: "орех")? Very nice! I ran SVD with PSO-1 in my "past life": what a beautiful rifle! I like Russian reticles with (passive) rangefinders: it takes a while to get used to, but then a breezer to work it. And 7.62x54R has that sweet kick and distinct sound. Sorry, couldn't resist. vinni83 148
Easy upgrade kit for Saiga / AK The main disadvantage of ergonomics Kalashnikov called three aspects: - short butt - too "thin" pistol grip - and complete lack of Picatinny rails To remove these shortcomings: standart buttplate changed to the new, more longer standart pistol grip changed to the new, more convenient standart handguard changed to the new, with Picatinny rails For this we need : rubber buffer "Izhmash" (it does not interfere with the folding butt) of Saiga 030, pistol grip "STK" (with a set of tools instead compartment in the butt) & tactical handguard "Izhmash" with 2 Picatinny rails, which, thanks to its shape can be easy to hold, even with bare hands. To install all these additional parts, we need 10 minutes of time and a screwdriver. The weight and center of gravity weapons almost not change ... vinni83 148
I wanted to write a short review about the modernization of Vepr-12. But when I read this topic http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/81316-picture-post-lets-see-your-vepr-12/page-4, I realized that the coolest upgrade considered standard VPO 205-03 ... DogMan 2,343
DogMan & Mullet Man I ask both of you - to stop swearing and remove your last 2 posts. OK, it's your thread. And a good one. Which is why when some troll chimes is with something ridiculous like ....."Not to bring down an awesome thread but if you're going to bash the younger generation's English maybe you should check your own grammar and spelling. "Alot" isn't a word and "better than" is what you should use when comparing things".....then that's usually going to get a response from me. If you are OK with that snarky and useless little comment but not my somewhat humorous response then I have to figure something got lost in the translation. In any case, I made my point.
