papa_celms 2
I'm attempting to replace my fore grip on my vepr 12 but have seen posting were people have to modify their replacement grips to make them fit properly. My question is what do I need to look for when ordering a compatible replacement? Will Saga 12 or AK fore grips fit fine?
Mullet Man 2,114
RPK furniture should fit with little to no mods.
papa_celms 2
When you say RPK furniture you mean RPK parts in general or a brand. I'm having trouble finding us made rpk parts in general which is why I ask. I'm also looking for US parts for 922r. Edited February 25, 2013 by papa_celms
Mullet Man 2,114
RPK is a type of AK, a heavy duty AK of sorts. Not a brand but more of a model.
papa_celms 2
I know what an rpk is just want sure if "RPK FURNITURE" refered to rpk accessories or a brand of rpk accessories. The furniture part confused me. Edited February 25, 2013 by papa_celms
Mullet Man 2,114
Gotcha. Accessories, stocks, handgaurds etc.
papa_celms 2
Right now I'm looking for a fore grip, and a pistol grip. I'm slightly mad that It's going to be near impossible to get my tan mako stock to color match anything I may buy... I bought the mako before I knew of 922r and that mako is Israeli. Should I just revert back to black or drudge ahead and try to get a decent looking two tone tan and black gun?
Mullet Man 2,114
922r bleh my opinion. Do what you gotta do.
Dr Robert Neville 6
I put a Hogue AK grip on mine, sure it took some time with the dremel, but it looks and feels great.

What do you have to dremel off? Would their be any issues with it not mounting properly or being canted? I was kicking around the tan Hogue OverMolded pistol grip just so hard to judge colors from the small pics they post. I'm also attempting to see If I can get the Wholly forearm B-20 "Classic" dono how much luck I'll have since its based in russia, and then I hope I'd actually get it lol. http://translate.google.com/translate?hl=en&sl=ru&u=http://zenitco.ru/&prev=/search%3Fq%3Dhttp://www.zenitco.ru%26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26hs%3D3gE%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official&sa=X&ei=5hQrUfTjA-S2yAH12IGQBQ&ved=0CDoQ7gEwAA Edited February 25, 2013 by papa_celms
Dr Robert Neville 6
you have to shorten the aft end of the grip by about 3/8" and rework the rear tabs, do not rework the front grip tabs, they are fine.. Remove the metal heat shield from the Hogue grip (it is very easy to do) and take some material away from the aft inside of the grip since the barrel is too thick. It is really easy with a dremel, take your time have a beer, trim, fit, trim, fit, trim fit............ The issue is the VEPR barrel is too thick for the grip. He's already mentioned it's being developed so it's only a matter of time.
menace667 194
Mako makes a handguard that will fit the VEPR just google "make rpk handguard" if you can not wait for the Chaos version. Cameron from Chaos has some great products and as me tioned above he said he has already looked at what i would take to do and hopes a coulle months. There is also another company with a us made foregrip in the works that is more like the one you have above that is supposed to hit the market in a couple months. papa_celms 2
I can't believe what they want for that mako hand guard. I thought I was pushing it looking at the Russian one above for around 160. I'd guess its due to the lack of demand for rpk accessories. I may wait see if I can get a nice looking US one. Aeromat209 24
Damage Industries has a railed fore grip that fits most RPK variants . $139. trying to show a paste of it .
Muffman 54
I have an MFT grip I modded to fit on mine. However not sure I would recommend it. Maybe I did the fitment a little off, but it has a little bit of wiggle. Not much though, but enough to where I will be replacing it. Looks awesome though!!! http://forum.saiga-12.com/index.php?/topic/81316-picture-post-lets-see-your-vepr-12/?p=858429 Edited February 28, 2013 by Muffman
menace667 194
Damage Industries has a railed fore grip that fits most RPK variants . $139. trying to show a paste of it . I spoke with them about a month and a half ago. They said they could not confirm if this would fit even with nay modification, but they do have a version specific to the VEPR supposedly coming to the market soon. I like the look of this. The Mako is stupid expensive, but is the only current option so maybe when they get some market competition it will change things some
ec4321 113
The damage won't be compatible as is, since it is a gas tube replacement. I love the design. I want one for my AK rifle as well, but they missed out on making the top rail being co-witness like the Ulitmak. For me, it's fail for now. I hope they resolve it.
