audiovideoguy03 0
Hi. Just signed up here. After owning a Saiga 5.56 for years I fell into a Saiga 20 for $100 and couldn't pass it up. The original barrel was cut down to 18.5". Some how, about an inch down from the end of the barrel it has "barrel bulge", and a decent case of it. So I am trying to locate a used barrel out there somewhere. Let me know if someone might have one! Thanks in advance, David in TX.
sunnybean 939
You'll have a heck of a time finding a used one. MAYBE you could swap someone doing a SBS. But, most likely your best bet is to have it cut down and a brake or flash suppressor permanently attached.
dolomite_supafly 56
Cut it back below the buldge then permenently attach a flash hider to bring it back to legal length. Dolomite
audiovideoguy03 0
The replies I am getting are the expected ones, but I have a question. Can the flash hider, or muzzle break be threaded or does it have to be welded on? I know it has to be "permanently" attached to qualify as actual barrel length. Again, thanks for the replies! dolomite_supafly 56
It is easy to weld it in place. The inside of the flashhider will need to have the threads removed so it is slip on. Then drill a hole so someone can plug welld it in place. Most any gunsmith should be able to do it for less than the cost of finding or fitting a Saiga barrel. Dolomite Do this and you are in violation of federal law... just an FYI... UNLESS THE BARREL IS REMOVED FROM THE FIREARM FIRST!!!! It is illegal to cut the barrel below 18 and attach a muzzle device to make it legal again... unless you have the appropriate firearms licensing... Again... just an FYI... be careful... be legal!
