Mil-spec stock?

Recommended Posts

My saiga 12 was imported in that AK platform so I don't have to worry about the conversion. I'm looking for a mil spec stock that will except an enidine shot shock. Can anyone please point me in the right direction I'm really tired of trying to research it lol. Thank you guys in advance.

here is an adapter on Ebay that is fairly inexpensive that will adapt your Saiga to an AR stock. There are others that are made from aluminum and you can use a standard reciever block with a pig nose adapter too. Spend some time looking at Carolina Shooters Supply, Mississippi Auto Arms, Dinzag, Etc there are several choices to be found

Umm..

I am a newbie too dude but I think both of those options will allow you to use a milspec buffer tube and an aftermarket milspec stock or a commercial buffer tube and a commercial stock.

That one that MisterT listed is hideous, IMO. But do what you want. The link responsiveresolve listed, gets an AR stock as close to the rear of the receiver as possible without cutting the tang. If you cut the tang, you can use anyone of the stock adapters and bolt a pignose to it. There are also the buffer tubes made by Vltor, CAA, CSS that bolt to the rear of the receiver. I like the Vltor AR/AK stock adaptor. It gives you QD swivel points near the back of the receiver.

And dont forget the Bonesteel Arms Folding/AR stock adaptor. Probably the best option if you want a folding stock adaptor. Much more robust than either the ACE or Stormwerkz folding adaptors. You also keep the tang.

So the one that responsive resolve posted won't work for what I'm trying to do? I'd like to avoid cutting off the tang if possible I just want to get something where I can still install that enidine shot shock in.

I've been looking as well...........I found this!015.gif

I think it is very swell, as you don't have to cut the tang and it is almost flush.

I don't like to put AR parts on an AK, but this Brownells one is trick. Very good design the way they have the tang recessed into the tube.

Well, I missed where you said you want to use an Enidine tube. Check out Bonesteel Arms. They have a folding stock adapter that doesnt require cutting the tang and allows you to screw any buffer tube into it.

Here is the modular stock adapter: http://www.bonesteelarms.com/AK-Saiga-folding-stock-hinge-for-modular-stocks-akfsace.htm

You will also need this for the buffer tube: http://store.carolinashooterssupply.com/servlet/-strse-170/ACE-CAR15-SAIGA-AK47/Detail

And dont forget a castle nut.

This is the way to go. This is exactly what I have and I love mine. Been thinking about switching it out for more of an AK style but definitely sticking with Bonesteel.

Okay now I'm more confused than ever. This is a completely different direction than I was wanting to go. Am I going to be able to use that enidine shot shock buffer with that? Wasn't really looking for a side folding stock. I like the idea of the collapsible stock. How will I be able to use that buffer in a side folding stock? I mean it would be cool but does anybody have any pictures of any of this installed?

Is this the Buffer? >>> http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-forend-parts/recoil-parts/recoil-buffers/shot-shock-recoil-reducer-prod24301.aspx

It looks like it will work......as long as all the components are mil-spec......My only question would be...Is the "Enidine Shot Shock" hollow under the threads?.......If it is a solid piece the "Rifled Dynamics ak47 m4 stock adapter" will not work because the Tang rides under the threads.

Not sure if that makes any sense at all...but I try.

Here's one option. It's an internal block from CSS (requires the tang to be cut off), a pig nose adapter, castle nut then the stock & buffer tube. Everything is from CSS except the Magpul stock although i think they do carry them.post-46357-0-93972100-1362671108_thumb.jpg

I know its tiring but you really do need to research this extensively to ensure that you get what you want and don't pay alot of money for stuff you don't need or is not compatible. The info is all here. Search the forum (using Google) and read, read, read. You will only be doing yourself a disservice by not educating yourself thoroughly on all available options before plunking down your hard-earned cash.

Check out the links again. Yes you can install a collapsible stock on that folding adapter. It is modular. It accepts the "Ace" style thread patterns so any stock or pignose stock adapter will bolt up to it.

So in this order, bonesteel arms modular hinge, pignose adapter along with castle nut, enidine buffer tube, and finally stock.

So yes you, by following the above links, you will have a collapsible stock AND a folding stock. Why settle for one when you can have both. You wont regret going with a sidefolder and the bonesteel hinge is the best out there.

I found a photo of the "Endine Shot Shock" it is indeed solid underneath the threads..........so the "Rifled Dynamics ak47 m4 stock adapter" will not work.

Taking Heavy D's advice I looked at Bone Steel and found this...

"AK/Saiga folding stock hinge with threaded AR-15 stock interface".........@http://www.bonesteelarms.com/AK-Saiga-folding-stock-hinge-with-threaded-AR-15-stock-interface-akfsar.htm

Which is a folder and leaves the tang in place.

I hope this helps.....I've been looking for components for my S12 and it is a journey.

Distal Radius is spot on.

Ok. The link RR links just above this post is the best option if you know you will never run anything other than an AR buffer tube. Simplifies things by removing the pignose adapter from the equasion. The one I listed, although the pignose isnt integrated in with the adapter, it does allow you to remove the pignose and swap to an ace stock, tromix stock, DPH stock, or any other stocks that use the same bolt pattern.

SGM makes a replacement trunnion that lets you thread the tube inside the rear of the receiver. It's a lil more work to install but it's got less parts and keeps the cheek weld low. I love mine

Goose, didnt you have to chase the threads of the adapter? And what about the lower protrusion? Did you end up grinding that off? Once the bugs are worked out, it could be a nice addition, keeps the stock in nice and tight. Did you rivet or use screws?

I'm using an ACE Socom stock, and I only had to run a wire brush over the threads on my tube because I'm an idiot and marred them at one point. The tab that extends past the bottom of the receiver, as best as I can tell, is for something like an ACE Skeleton stock. And yes, it would have been in the web of my hand but I cut it off with a rotary tool before installation. I used the screws that came with it, and had to do a touch of grinding on the holes of the receiver to open them up to accept the screws. Not much though, you can't even really tell, lol don't picture any slots or ovals on my gun I promise it's not bad, and only on two holes so there's still no play.

The only other thing I had to do was drill a small divot on the top-back portion of my SAW grip. It was for the head of the screw that keeps the tube from backing in or out.

There were no "bugs" really, I knew ahead of time what all I had to do. Got it right the first time and didn't have to go back for unexpected things. Well worth the money and not as scary as it sounds to put in. Plus it gave me a chance to cut off the side rail. I had all this put up some where but as it turns out I didn't make my own thread for it so for the life of me I can't find my original write up for my installation. Much more detailed because it was fresh in my mind. If anyone finds it please link it in here or send it to Sapper for me. I don't want to add to the multiple thread problem lol

edit for spelling

I've been looking for something like that. Even posted a thread asking if there was something like that! What did it run you?

Mississippi Auto Arms- 90 bucks and they have 4 in stock currently. I was about to post a link for ya but at the last second I realized that I have no idea if that's kosher, sorry.

Just go to their site, and at the top left in the lil search box type SGM, it'll be about the third result

Hello guys....

I was thinking of this setup....

1. RIFLE DYNAMICS - AK47/AK74 M4 Stock Adapter

@http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-forend-parts/rifle-stocks/ak-m4-stock-adapter-sku100011376-55411-113111.aspx

2. DPMS - Butt Stock Extension Tube

@http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-forend-parts/stock-hardware/tubes/butt-stock-extension-tube-sku231000048-17502-41387.aspx

3. MAGPUL - AR-15/M16/AR-10 MOE RIFLE STOCK

@http://www.brownells.com/rifle-parts/stock-forend-parts/rifle-stocks/moe-rifle-stock-black-sku100009585-45515-103195.aspx

4. and I think I need a screw(Butt Stock Screw, Upper, A2)

Am I missing anything?.......

One Thing that concerns me is the RF adapter looks to be a little "high" but in line with the barrel. And there is a lil "void" that is there(right behind where the cover snaps in) that looks a little funny.

here is a link to the website RF @ http://www.rifledynamics.com/shop/

Sorry if I kind of highjacked a little, but I am learning as well. Thanks for all the input. I do not like the idea of cutting the tang.......but it seems to be the norm. Do you think I should just save up and shoot for the Bonesteel folder?

Any input is greatly appreciated.

i like the simplicity of this one but will it still look good? and the tang does not need to be removed correct?

i do like the one picture that was posted, very clean. i just dont want it to look bad.

That is the exact one that I have and the Enidine will work with it. It will look great and the tang does not need removed. Trust me, you would be extremely happy with it.

That setup would work and yes you would need the buttstock screw. I personally would just go for the bonesteel if you're interested in a folding stock at all but don't think that you could go wrong either way.
