dolomite_supafly 56
I am needing someone to weld on some HK sights to the gas block. I have found a guy locally but I am worried he may warp or penetrate the gas block while doing it. Any suggestions as to who can do it. I would prefer someone in the E Tennessee area but anywhere as a last resort. I plan on sending just the gas block in with the sights. Also, what are some ways to prevent warping? The guy locally is supposed to be really good but he is not a gun guy. Thanks Dolomite
pedal2alloy 206
If the local guy is "really good" like you said, then he will have no problem with it. You could tell him that you are worried about warping, and he will take steps to prevent that.
gtnichols 51
Also , it helps to have the gas block attached , and the rear sight also welded or mounted in place and a laser bore sighter installed so you can line it all up, then lightly tack weld it, test alignment, then lay down the beads for tig or mig welding. most likely will not burn through the block, they are pretty tough
