magsite20 1,664
Have you seen the BS on the 2.3% Medical Device Excise Tax effective 1/1/13? Look at this page of the IRS code, it includes the makers of Fishing rods and reels, bows and arrows. Look at page two. http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f637.pdf You need to get clear on where you guys fit in this O'Bozo Care tax scheme. As you see this hidden tax includes cars, trucks, tires, plus gas, kerosene and diesel fuel.

Does this mean I can use my insurance savings account to buy a new fishing rod? Or tires for my motorcycle
yakdung 2,926
I have seen it. Folks in your state wanted it, as it came with the package. We haven't seen nothing yet.

protected static 19
You've got it the wrong way 'round. It's adding medical devices to those manufacturers and importers needing to pay an excise tax, not adding the other stuff to the category of medical devices. The other manufacturers/importers were already paying that excise tax - fishing gear has been taxed since the 1950s, for instance. sean8642 77
You've got it the wrong way 'round. The other manufacturers/importers were already paying that excise tax - fishing gear has been taxed since the 1950s, for instance. So if we read the last page on the form, it states: What's New Taxable medical devices. The Affordable Care Act imposes a 2.3- percent medical device excise tax that manufacturers and importers will pay on their sales of taxable medical devices starting in 2013. For this purpose, "taxable medical devices" is added to activity letters A, B, and D. See section 4191 for more information. Looks like you are correct.
