jerardisflossin 0
So i just bought a converted saiga and i noticed this on the front site block. It looks like a cap welded to it? Could there be gold under it (threads)? Every pic ive seen doesnt have this style cap on it. I know from the thread below that everyone says they dont have threads however this one is converted. maybe they put a threaded fsb and welded the cap to comply? If nothing, has anyone threaded it for the 24mm brake its about an inch in diameter? I have a bulgarian brake and Id like to use it haha.
thebuns1 4,323
Yes its threaded. Its a 24x1.5 RH threads. The standard '74 pitch and FSB, minus the bayo lug.
jerardisflossin 0
So wait youre saying its threaded under it?? Awesome! Why is my Saiga seem to be the odd man out from most? Is it common for US manufactuers to put a threaded FSB on these? The rifle has "legion" stamped on it (from Florida).
thebuns1 4,323
Legion USA was the importer. Its likely an IZ 240, judging by the FSB. They come into the country with the proper handguards and retainer, and have the cap welded for import purposes. They also have a 7.62 version in the same configuration known as the IZ 340.
