what are you running on your saigas?

Recommended Posts

I'm planning on picking up a S5.45 here pretty soon and I'm not sure what to use for an optic. I was thinking about trying one of the new primary arms red dots. Is put the PA red dot on my 762 and the Leupold Prismatic from that on the 545.

The prismatic is pretty cool because the reticle is etched so it can be used with or without illumination. Kinda bummed though I need to send it in for warranty work... something got knocked loose and I see two reticles, a bright centered one and a dim fuzzy off center one.

This is the Prismatic post-46357-0-93377200-1363705978.gif

I also just ordered a Trijicon RX30 reflex sight for my S12. I really hope it can take the recoil of the 12. I'm sure it'll be fine, I have a RMR and one of their hunting scopes and they are great.

Here's the Reflexpost-46357-0-88812800-1363706146.jpg

Any suggestions $300 or less for my next Saigs optic?

Dubya, I had all that fancy shit on my shotgun once. Don't really need it on the S12. What do you have, maybe 50 yards or less? Just point and shoot. My rifles are the only ones that have optics. I am using the HK sights purely for aesthetics. Save your pennies and buy some useful shit like ammo and more guns. Just my opinion, I could be wrong.....

This is what I run, as of now.

KV-04s mount, and an RX06-11 Reflex.

How do you like it? Mines the newer rx30-51. It's a 42mm which I think will be nice on the S12 for a bigger, quicker sight picture. Its the 6.5 moa dot. Thinking I could have got an even bigger reticle since obviously a shotgun isn't a precision firearm but 6.5 should be sufficient.

I prefer the triangle over the dot, but this thing has been the cats ass. I have my POI zeroed at the tip of the triangle. I cant really say enough good things about it. Your going to love it. Both eyes open shooting is hard to beat.

PK-A mounted on the siderail, I find those weaver/siderail mounts put the optic too high by the time its mounted.Plus if you use Russian optics mounted to the left of the centreline as intended you can still use the ironsights with the optical sight in place :)

The RX30 is actually quite a bit bigger and heavier than the RX06 you have so I tried it on and wasn't bad but I decided to not use it on the S12 and ordered a Trijicon RMR RM07 LED red dot with 6.5MOA reticle. Supposedly one CR2032 battery will last for 4 years of the RMR "on", which is awesome! Just as good IMO as the Reflex that is always on, actually better because I can adjust the brightness as well. That's the one thing I don't like about the Reflex is in dark the reticle isn't quite bright enough for me and if you were in shade lookin into a bright area the dot washes out.

I really like the size of the RMR, its so light I don't even notice a difference! The RX06 is probably as big as I'd go for a dot, the RX30 is just huge. After I bought the mount the RMR came to about $650...pretty spendy but I've loved my 3 other Trijicon and I'm sure it'll be worth most of the pennies. First range session tomorrow, I'll update my results.post-46357-0-55684100-1365654051_thumb.jpgpost-46357-0-41062100-1365654086_thumb.jpgpost-46357-0-08176400-1365654101_thumb.jpgpost-46357-0-30833000-1365654148_thumb.jpg

I also added a small rail underneath my gas block and the last two things I need to do to completely finish the job is add a little StreamLight or Surefire light to the rail for at home and chop 3.125" off the barrel and weld on the Chaos brake. Running 100% with everything.

I may send my BCG off to get a glass bolt finish done if he catches up and I won't have to wait 3+ months...

According to a couple of Russians I know, yes they did for a time.

In the US the common term for the 7.62x39 calibrated reticule is Simonov. The POSP 4x24V is manufactured in Belarus as a civilian grade optic with an AK mount, I'm not sure why they would have manufactured them with the wrong mount and calibrated for a round that we can't get in the US, or that presumably isn't in use anywhere outside Russia, especially when the VSS has it's own PSO built by NPZ.

The fact is that until "perestroika" SVD shipped from the factory, only with the standard optical sight, which also had a series number of rifle and trademark Izhmash (military acceptance), but specifically the production of optics Izhmash far as I know was not engaged.
He was getting ready sights with enterprise vendors.

I will not argue with you, the grid as shown in your photo is counted under the ballistics of the cartridge 9 * 39 VSS ( PSO 1-1/1M2-1)

exactly the usual same as the grid sight PSO-1 works correctly only on the SVD

I had my eotech on my saiga 12 for a while on my side mount but it was too big I couldn't charge my handle with my left hand like normal, so I picked up a Bushnell TRS-25 red dot, worked out great. I modified the side mount a little now its perfect. not a bad little sight for 100$

For the washout, Trijicon sends a filter with the sight that is adjustable to prevent it. I like it, and I do want an RMR for my Veper-12.

No argument here either, but it's also considered common knowledge that the POSP 4x24V is calibrated for 7.62x39. I think it's reasonable to assume they would have might have used the simpler 400m range finder of the VSS, but I still can't see why they would calibrate the optic for 9x39 then market it to be used on 7.62 rifles.

I have a TRS-25 and for $100 I feel its by far the best red dot under $200 out there. I much prefer it to the SPARC.

YYou'll love the RMR. IMO it's not even close to compare the Reflex and RMR, the ONLY good thing about the Reflex is no batteries but you can't adjust the dot and with the RMR lasting 4 years of continuous use and being 1/10 the size it's a no brainer.

Ask Breid, he shot my S12 today. The RMR rocks!

It is well known from ... ? rolleyes.gif

The second question is under what the length of the barrel is designed this grid -?

Is there a formal document that details how to introduce amendments with a view "ballistic mesh" which is designed to chuck 7.62 * 39 (like type user manual PSO-1 ) -?

The truth is that the embodiments of the Saiga is a huge amount, and calculate the "ballistic mesh" would have to be a combination of each barrel / cartridge.

Bracket POSP 4*24V is an analogue of PSO-1M2-1, with most of the sights that I had hold in their hands had ballistic mesh SVD.

I myself was surprised by the response to a specialist from the factory producing them, but it's a fact - "ballistic mesh" 7.62*39 in POSP 4*24 does not exist.

You can make corrections using the grid but count them yourself.
