G O B 3,516
The Saiga firing pins come in two flavors. My .308 is one piece, my S-12 and momma's S.410 are two piece, they actually look to be interchangable. Either way they are easy to remove. There is a crosspin in the bolt that will tap out with the drift pin from the cleaning kit. If you didn't get a "but hole" kit with the Saiga, it is the standard AK kit ($5.00). The pin should be a lot easier to remove than the SKS. It is a simular design, except it is a cylindrical pin-no taper, no head.It cannot come out in the action, so it need not be a tight fit. On my S-12 it is loose enough that I need to be carefull when I remove the bolt. The one piece pin looks exactly like a SKS pin, the 2 piece is like a rod and a nail and a spring. The 2 piece is a true kinetic design that needs a firm strike from the hammer to transfer enough energy to drive the second part into the primer with enough velocity to ignite the primer. The one piece design could concievably cause a chambered round to fire if the gun is dropped on the muzzle from several feet onto a hard surface. G O B
