saiga 5.45 converted by CAI: 922r foreign parts count?

Recommended Posts

hi, folks,

i recently acquired a saiga in 5.45r converted by CAI to "AK-ish" configuration:

--AK-style butt stock

--trigger moved forward (with, presumably, a US fcg)

--pistol grip

these are fairly common on gunbroker, buds gunshop, etc.

i bought it since the important bits (barrel, receiver, etc.) are quality izhmash kit.

question:

i have an imported tantal folding stock from a previously owned AK and i'd like to install it on the saiga. does anyone know if this foreign stock will tip the 922r status over to non-compliant?

if so, what's the best other foreign part to replace to restore compliance?

i also plan to thread, pin, & weld a US muzzle brake to the barrel. does that affect the count?

the desired end state is to have a strong, folding stock for compact storage and i'd prefer to use what i've already got, so advice around that is welcome.
