I do believe that a feed ramp and welded in feed lip will work together without a problem, however I think the problem encountered will be with the mag catch. Your Saiga mag catch is designed for a thinner nub. If the Saiga is modified to accept AK magazines, the mag catch will have been filed down to accept the standard thicker nub. When you lock a Saiga magazine into the modified Saiga, it would have a tendancy not to lock in tightly. If you want the Saiga to work with both types of magazines, you would need to enlarge the nub that locks the Saiga mag in place, on all of the Saiga magazines you plan to use. Does that make sense? scoutjoe 276
well i understand what your saying, but i'm just going to have to go home and look at the guns again...which will then end up going to the range and so on and so forth... i completely forgot about the mag catch, the way i'm thinking about it...that they would still lock in just not be rock soild, if not i could always just get an standard AK latch and replace it on the saiga...then just weld and refile the mags to fit. does that make sense? or did i end up huffing too much two cycle today in the woods? SaigaShooter 0
I filed down too much of my saigas mag catch, and ended up getting a new standard size bulgarian one from k-var. There is only about 1/16 of an inch of up and down play in the original saiga mag with the new catch, which btw is a real pain in the ass to install.
