menace667 194
I read a while ago that doing HC over electroless nickel is the best way to go for true protection. Basically, electroless has the ability to get into all the nook and cranny parts of the piece where HC does not, but HC is much more wear resistant so if you do one over the other you get the best of both worlds. Since the VEPR does not rely on super tight "MILSPEC" tolerances on its internals it shouldn't be any issue. Corrosion in the bolt/carrier shouldnt be much of an issue on an AK based rifle since it is a piston driven system and most of the bad gases and stuff (which is not really bad anymore since almost all ammo is non corrosive except some old milsurp) stay in the gas chamber and does not come into contact with the internals like on a DI AR. Simple maintenance on AK platform weapons can make them last forever.
