Commonsense 0
I just bought one of these (in the mail) I want to know what is needed regarding 922 requirements if I clip the tack weld on the folder. Sorry if all this has been covered........
menace667 194
Cheapest 922 compliance is fire control group ($45 and counts as three parts),(US made magazine ($35ish and counts as three parts), pistol grip ($20ish), US made puck ($20 from CSS), and a US made muzzle device (cost depends on what you choose). So for about $125 you can ensure full compliance and allow for the tack weld to be removed with no worries. Other parts do exist, like the Chaos quad rail, that can add compliant parts if you want a quad rail. if not the above is the cheapest and simplest list of options. ezveedub 2
I just bought one of these (in the mail) I want to know what is needed regarding 922 requirements if I clip the tack weld on the folder. Sorry if all this has been covered........ I got the Saiga/Molot modifed fire control parts (Regular Tapco G2 hammer will not drop in and needs to be modified) and piston puck from CSS, Then got the MD Arms Molot grip and SGM mags from Saiga-12 E-Shop. AFAIK I know, the muzzle device doesn't really count UNLESS it has a foreign made brake/muzzle installed. If there is no muzzle/brake installed, you don't count it. SHADOWCHASER 7
Stumbled across this Handy 922R Compliance WIKI/Worksheet (Specifically for S12/V12 Shotguns): http://gunwiki.net/Gunwiki/BuildSaigaShotgunVerifyCompliance Makes it pretty Easy to figure. Interestingly enough, it appears the S12, & V12s Shoties have one Additional Foreign Part (by BATFE definition) Than a Comparable AK style Rifle does. Differences in the Gas Systems as it appears from this source. Be sure to Read the BATFE Letter links, Here: http://gunwiki.net/JustTheLaw/RefSaigaATF where they Define the Total number of Parts VS the Total 10 foreign part limit required for 922R Compliance. [shortcut] *See Page 8 of the PDF file for the List per this BATFE response letter: http://gunwiki.net/pub/JustTheLaw/RefSaigaATF/batfe-atf-letter-saiga-12-parts-10-13-2011.pdf Edited October 13, 2013 by SHADOWCHASER

If you apply this to the VEPR 12, you actually have 16 parts to consider, as they did not include the pistol grip in the count. Also, AFAIK, if they are counting the operating rod and piston puck, there are some VEPR 12s that would have to run US mags only, as some of the 922r models out there now only had the 3 trigger parts, piston puck and pistol grip replaced to US parts, which would put your at 8 foreign parts. Once the original mag is used, you're at 11 foreign parts. I haven't seen any US made operating rods yet either. You have to consider that of the 20 parts under the 922r list, if you use a foreign part that's listed on it, you count it, which the pistol grip falls under on that Saiga 12 list. ezveedub 2
So far, I'm using just the modified Tapco G2 FCG parts, CSS puck and MD Arms pistol grip. With SGM mags, I'm at 8 US parts with the folding stock tack weld removed.
